DEVILS WALK IT OFF ON SOUTHERN

LISBON, OH- It all came down to the final swing in Lisbon on Monday, where the Lisbon Devils snatched a 4-3 walk-off win against Southern. The scoreboard read three-all until Marc Moore delivered a clutch single in the bottom of the seventh to drive in the winning run.

Brady Carpenter was impressive, fanning 11 batters across a full seven innings while allowing nine hits and three runs.

Southern struck first with M Pitts driving in a run in the opening frame. But Lisbon quickly responded as Brady Carpenter and Ryan Carpenter each knocked in a run to seize the lead.

The game knotted up again in the fifth when P Pitts slapped a two-strike single to even things at two. Lisbon nudged ahead once more in the same inning thanks to another RBI single from Moore.

The tie persisted into the sixth after C Forbes grounded out to bring in a run for Southern, setting the stage for Lisbon’s last-inning heroics.

Pitts ended up with the loss for Southern, despite a solid six-inning outing where he struck out nine but gave up four runs off 10 hits.

Lisbon racked up 10 hits, with Moore and Carpenter at the heart of the action. Moore, batting from the left, went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Carpenter topped the hit chart going 3-for-4. Devin Kelly was a menace on the bases, swiping six bags as Lisbon stole seven in total and kept the infield flawless without any errors.

Southern matched up well, posting nine hits themselves, led by Pitts with three. Each Pitts in the lineup managed to drive in a run, holding their defense tight without errors, where F Shagnot was involved in 10 plays.
