WHITING RAMBLES THROUGH ROTH BROTHERS

STRUTHERS OH- Whiting Roll-Offs scored early and often on their way to a 10-4 victory over Roth Brothers on Thursday. An impressive offensive showing they were up 7-2 after 3 innings.

Chase Tomko went 2-3 for Whiting with 4 RBI. Brendon Hink went 1-1 with 2 walks and a run scored. He also contributed a RBI.

For Roth Brothers, Eli Snider went 2-3 with 2 RBI and a run scored. Caelen Bender went 1-2 with a walk and a run scored.

Logan Exler got the win on the bump for Whiting. He went 4 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 3 hits. He struck out a pair.

LATE BURST PROPELS DURA EDGE PAST AVALANCHE

STRUTHERS OH- Avalanche had a 3-1 lead for the first half of their game against Dura Edge on Thursday night. But Dura Edge scores four in the 6th and two in the 7th to walk away with a 7-3 victory.

Brock Janeda went 1-3 for Dura Edge with a walk and 2 RBI. Vince Armeni went 2-4 with a RBI and a run scored.

For Avalanche, Aaron Elsworth went 1-1 with a walk and a RBI. John King went 3-3 with a run scored.

Jake Bowen got the win on the mound for Dura Edge, he went 2 innings and gave up 0 runs on 1 hit. He struck out 3.

Tyler Cummings pitches well in a losing effort for Avalanche. He went 6 innings and gave up just 1 earned run on 8 hits. He struck out a pair.

KREUZWIEZER PLAYS HERO, PROSPECTS EDGE FALCONS

STRUTHERS OH- Jeremy Kreuzwieser had the lone RBI for Prospects as they narrowly beat the Astro Falcons on Thursday. A much anticipated matchup did not disappoint as every pitch mattered.

Kreuzwieser went 2-3 with a RBI for Prospects. Shane Cato went 2-2 with a run scored.

Phil Fox went 2-3 for the Falcons. Ricky Havrilla went 1-2 with a walk.

Austen Price got the win on the mound for Prospects. He went 6 innings and gave up no earned runs on 7 hits. He struck out 6.

Cal Bickerstaff pitches well for the Falcons in the loss. He went 6 innings giving up 1 run on 6 hits. He struck out 10 and walked none.

ROTH BROTHERS BLASTS AVALANCHE

STRUTHERS OH- It was a pitcher’s duel for the first four innings of the game Thursday between Roth Brothers and Avalanche. Then Roth Brothers scored five runs in the 5th and 6th innings combined. Their pitchers kept the Avalanche shutout in a 5-0 victory.

Cam Hollobaugh went 1-2 with a walk and 3 RBI. Justin Clevenger went 3-3 with a walk and a RBI.

For Avalanche, John King went 1-2. Conner Evans went 1-3.

Jared Obreza got the win on the mound for Roth Brothers. He went 5 innings and gave up 0 runs on 4 hits. He struck out 3.

CREEKSIDE DECLAWS EAGLE WEAR

STRUTHERS OH- Creekside trailer Eagle Wear early as Eagle Wear scores 2 in the first. Creekside got their offense going in the 3rd when they scored 4, once the dams broke the runs kept coming as Creekside rolled to a 12-2 win.

Grant Voytovich has a big day going 3-4 with 3 RBI. Anthony Sherwin went 2-4 with 4 RBI.

Jack Pawlowicz went 2-3 with a RBI for Eagle Wear. Matt Worner went 1-3 with a run scored.

Will Jamison got the win on the mound for Creekside. He went 4 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 5 hits. He struck out 5.

KNIGHTLINE BURNS OUT BALLISTIC

STRUTHERS OH- Knightline scores early to take a lead with 2 runs in the top of the first inning on Thursday. Their pitching did the rest of the work as they held the Ballistic offense in check the rest of the game. They added another 3 runs for good measure in the 7th.

Nathan Meeks went 4-5 on the day with a RBI for Knightline. Brett Bobin went 1-4 with 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored.

Matt Dubois went 1-2 for Ballistic. Tanner Egli went 1-3.

Bobin was masterful on the mound for Knightline. He went 7 innings giving up 0 runs on just 2 hits. He struck out 8.

ROTH BROTHERS COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH MIKE CEFALDE

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- For the last 50 years, you haven’t been able to sit at the Youngstown Baseball Table without being in the presence of Roth Brothers 18U Co-Manager, Mike Cefalde. Cefalde has been a staple not only on the baseball scene, but a huge influence on youngsters in the Mahoning Valley for a half-century and counting.

From hardball to hard hitting boxing, Cefalde has impact wherever he stands. We sat down with the coach to discuss his time in the first of many Coach’s Corners with the Youngstown legend.

KNIGHTLINE BLANKS AVALANCHE

STRUTHERS OH- Knightline was all over the Avalanche on Sunday shutting them out 6-0. It was a straight up pitcher’s duel until Knightline shocked the Avalanche with six runs in the top of the 7th inning.

Vince Scortino went 1-2 for a Knightline with 2 RBI. Mason McCurdy went 1-1 with a RBI and a walk. He also scored a run.

On a tough day for the Avalanche offense Derek Franken went 1-2. Mikial Torres also went 1-2 on the day.

Brett Bobin went the distance for Knightline. He gave up 0 runs on 2 hits and struck out 7.

Marshal Weinberg pitched well for Avalanche going 3 innings, giving up no runs on 3 hits. He struck out 4.

ASTROS ICE AVALANCHE

STRUTHERS, OH- Pitching was the name of the game in this one, as two outstanding pitching staffs went toe-to-toe with the Avalanche giving just a bit more rope than they wanted when the dust settled.  The Astro Falcons were able to pile 7 hits and force a pair of errors to help Cal Bickerstaff get a victory 5-1 on Saturday.

Bickerstaff held his own, for certain.  The Kent State commit toasted 10 batters while walking 1 over the course of 7 innings, giving up a run on 4 hits.

Ricky Havrilla and JJ Wetherholt pushed in a runner each while Lucas Gulcznski brought home a pair.  Youngstown State commit, Chase Franken, continued his assault at the dish by going 2-4 and roping a triple.

For Avalanche, Aaron Ellsworth went 6 innings and struck out 4 while walking five.  Ty Tamburro provided the only RBI, while Peyton Olinski was 1-2 with a double and a walk.

CREEKSIDE HOLDS STRONG TO BOUNCE WHITING

STRUTHERS, OH- The Creekside offense would plate 5 runs in the third inning, and that was all they would need to slide past Whiting Roll-Offs three runs in 18U play Saturday.

Creekside would get big days from Brady Hansen who drove in a pair of runs on the day.  Anthony Sherwin, Lenny Piccini, and Thomas Koch would also drive in one run apiece for the Purple and Orange.  Sherwin would also steal a bag along with Grant Voytovich and BJ Arnold to keep the pressure on Whiting pitchers.

On the hill for Creekside, Andrew Vance was stellar.  Vance surrendered no earned runs and scattered 4 hits while walked one and striking out a quartet.  Shane Wokley had 2 innings in relief and fanned 3 hitters in the outing.

Frank Deluca carried the stick for Whiting by driving in both runs, while Logan Exler took the loss on the mound giving up 7 hits and five earned runs in 2 innings of work.
