EAGLE WEAR OUTMATCHED BY FALCONS

STRUTHERS OH- It was all Astro Falcons on Tuesday night in their meeting with Eagle Wear. They scored six runs in both the 2nd and 3rd innings to put away any doubt. They also held Eagle Wear to just 1 hit on the mound.

For the Falcons offense, AJ Havrilla went 2-2 a walk, with 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI. Ricky Havrilla went 1-2 with a walk, a run scored, and 3 RBI. Dom Pilolli went 1-4 with 3 RBI.

Matt Womer had the lone hit for Eagle Wear going 1-1 with a walk. The Eagle Wear offense did work 6 walks on the night. Ryan Enlow had 2 of them.

Carter Kim got the win on the bump for the Falcons. He went 2 innings giving up 1 run on 0 hits and striking out 4.

 

KNIGHTLINE DISMANTLES DURA EDGE

STRUTHERS OH- Knightline got off to a fast start on Tuesday against Dura Edge. They scored four runs in the 1st inning. Dura Edge slowly cut it to 4-3 before Knightline dropped another four runs in the 5th. They’d go on to win 10-3.

For Knightline, Nate Jacobs went 2-4 with 3 RBI. Gabe Faunda went 2-3 with a walk and 3 runs scored. He also added 2 RBI.

Jake Bowen went 2-3 for Dura Edge with 2 RBI. Vince Armeni went 1-2 with a walk and a run scored. He also collected a RBI.

Brett Bobin got the win toeing the rubber for Knightline. He went 5 innings and gave up 3 runs on 8 hits. He struck out 6.

BALLISTIC COMES OUT ON TOP DURING HIGH SCORING AFFAIR

STRUTHERS OH- Scoring was not a problem Tuesday for Ballistic Baseball and Avalanche. The two teams combined for 29 runs and 19 hits. Ballistic had a massive twelve run 5th in response to a six run 4th by Avalanche.

Koby Zupko went 4-4 for Ballistic with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI. Matt Dubois went 2-4 with 2 runs scored and 5 RBI.

For Avalanche Marshal Weinburg went 2-3 with a run scored and 4 RBI. Conner Evans went 2-3 with 2 runs scored and a RBI.

Isaac Schleich got the win on the mound for Ballistic. He went 2 innings giving up 6 runs on 6 hits. He struck out 1.

PROSPECTS EARN HARD FOUGHT WIN

STRUTHERS OH- Prospects and Whiting Roll-Offs found themselves in a pitching duel on Tuesday. Prospects scored a run in the 5th to take a lead. Whiting ties things up in the 7th, but the Prospects answered right back and won 2-1.

Jeremy Kreuzwieser went 2-4 for Prospects with a RBI. Nick Osborne went 1-1. Michael Galterio went 1-3.

JA Quahliero went 1-3 with a RBI for Whiting. Gabe Yanssens went 2-3 with an impressive day at the plate. Tyler Kamerer went 1-2 with a walk.

Kreuzwieser started the game for Prospects. He went 6 innings, giving up 1 run on 6 hits. He struck out 5.

Logan Exler pitches well for Whiting. He went 6 innings giving up 0 earned runs on 5 hits. He struck out 5.

CREEKSIDE ENDS ROTH BROTHERS STREAK

STRUTHERS OH- Roth Brothers came in to Tuesday on a four game winning streak. That came screeching to a halt when Creekside beat them 5-2. Creekside had a big three run 5th inning to propel them to victory.

Noah Wijnen-Reims went 1-3 for Creekside with 3 RBI. Aaron Posey went 1-3 with a walk and a run scored. He also collected a RBI.

For Roth Brothers Ryan Sullivan went 1-2 with a RBI. Cam Hollobaugh went 1-3 with a RBI. Matt Lockwich went 1-2 with a run scored.

Zac Kelly got the win on the rubber for Creekside. He went 5 innings giving up 2 runs on 3 hits. He struck out 4.

KING FOR A DAY: AVALANCHE WALK OFF PROSPECTS

STRUTHERS, OH- The Avalanche continue to show grit in the middle of Grit City, as they walked off one of the elite teams in the Youngstown Class B League, defeating the Prospects 4-3.

John King was the hero in the seventh as he singled home the runner on a shot to left field. Tyler Cummings led the attack going 1-3 with 2 RBI and a double.  Marshall Weinberg also contributed RBI in the victory.

Avalanche got a big effort from Caleb Graft who pitched 6 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs (0 earned) while striking out 8.  Weinberg came in the game in relief.

Cavin Stauffer filed for the loss giving up one hit the ended in the casualty for the Prospects.  Colin Gallahger did the heavy lifting on the bump, going four innings and ended with a strikeout to his credit.

Clay Wiesen had the lone RBI for the Buccos, while Sean Helpy went 1-2 with a double and a free pass.

The Prospects will fall to fourth place in the standings at 5-5, while Avalanche (3-7) increase their wins to 3 on the year.

FOURTH INNING FIESTA PROPELS EAGLE WEAR

STRUTHERS, OH- A big fourth frame helped Eagle Wear push past Knightline 12-6 on Sunday Afternoon.  Leading the way for Eagle Wear was the trio of Walter Sweeney with 3 RBI, and Ricky Enlow and Jack Pawlowicz with 2 RBI each.  Donny Shimko was a burglar on the base paths with a pair of stolen bags, while Zach Lordo and Brett Palmer each nabbed a bag as well.

On the mound Josh Corll kept doing what he’s been doing all season, and that’s standing toe-to-toe with Class B hitters.  Corll went 6 innings and scattered 10 hits while giving up 6 runs (4 earned) and whiffing a pair.

Trevor Strohmeyer would take the ‘L’ for Coach Otto’s, Knightline.  Strohmeyer pitched 3 innings and surrendered 8 (6 earned) while walking 5 and striking out 2.  Jake Lawrence split the duties on the bump, striking out 4 and walking 3.

Gabe Faunda would key the Knightline offense with a triple and an RBI, Brady Dixon went 1-3 with an RBI as well.

 

FOR ACTION SHOTS FROM CLASS B: GO HERE

PROSPECTS EARLY LEAD HOLDS UP AGAINST BALLISTIC

STRUTHERS, OH- A five-spot of runs in the bottom of the first inning paved the way for the Prospects’ 8-7 victory over Ballistic despite the boys in blue pushing across four runners in the top of the seventh inning.

Sean Helpy would deliver for the Battling Buccos offensively with a 2 RBI day.  Shane Cato and Jared Mindek also would contribute RBI for the Prospects.  Cato would also nab a pair of bases in the ballgame to lead the team in stolen bags.

Not to finish offensively, Cato got it done on the bump as well going 5 innings and giving up 3 runs on 8 hits while striking out a pair.

Ballistic would actually outhit the Prospects 12 to 7, but were just unable to deliver them home.  Koby Zupko and Bryce Smith would come through in the clutch by driving in a pair of teammates, while Anthony Koulianos, Matt Dubois, and Tanner Egli each drove in a run.

Kevin Schott would pitch 5 innings on the bump for Ballistic and surrender 8 (6 earned) on 7 hits while striking out 7 and walking 5.

Ballistic (2-8) will return to action on Tuesday in the early game at 5:30 against Avalanche, while the Prospects (5-4) will take the main stage at 6PM against Whiting.

CREEKSIDE COMEBACK FALLS SHORT

STRUTHERS, OH- Creekside tried to pull the upset card in the top of the seventh inning on Sunday against the Astro Falcons, plating 4 runs in the frame- but ultimately fell short, 7-5.

Dom Pieto led the Falcons at the plate, going 1-2 with a double, a walk, and a pair of RBI’s.  Bobby Lane, Dom Pilolli, Greg Johnson, Andrew Muraco, and Chase Franken also plated a runner each.

On the mound, Jon McCullough would fight for the win- going 6 innings, giving up a run on 4 scattered hits.  McCullough also struck out 5 in the outing.

For Creekside, Gavin Miller went 2-4 with a double to his credit, while driving in a trio of his teammates.  Gage Gillott would hold the loss, giving up 3 earned runs in 4 innings of work, while striking out a pair.

The Astro Falcons extend their lead atop the Cene/Goldstone Standings at 8-1, while Creekside holds onto second at 7-3.  Both teams are slated to return to the diamond on Tuesday, Astro will take on Eagle Wear at 8:30, while Creekside battles Roth at 5:45.

ROTH BROTHERS WIN FOURTH STRAIGHT GAME

STRUTHERS OH- Roth Brothers are putting together an impressive stretch as they’ve won four in a row after a 6-2 win over Dura Edge. Roth Brothers big inning came in the 3rd when they scored four runs.

Matt Lockwich went 3-3 with a run scored and 2 RBI for Roth Brothers. LJ Evans went 2-3 with a run scored and a RBI.

For Dura Edge, Andrew Marcello went 1-2 with a walk and 2 runs scored. Vince Armeni went 1-3.

Abe Bayus got the win on the mound for Roth Brothers. He went 7 innings giving up 1 earned run on 2 hits and striking out 6.
