FALCONS RISE UP AND COME BACK ON THE RAIDERS

Jefferson stole the lead late in the game in an 8-7 victory over South Range on Monday.  The game was tied at seven with Jefferson batting in the top of the sixth when Bree Kohler got Lexi Zeman to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

South Range scored six runs in the second inning, and led 7-1 in the 5th but Jefferson still managed to pull out the victory.  The big inning for South Range came thanks to a home run by Kohler, a fielder’s choice by Kali Dudich, and an error on a ball put in play by Brooke Sauerwein.

The Falcons got things started in the second inning, when they scored one run as Cheyenne Kase singled.

Sheridon Wilber got the win for the Falcons. She surrendered seven runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out three.

Kohler took the loss for South Range. She lasted seven innings, allowing eight hits and eight runs, seven of them earned while striking out five and walking one.

Kase went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Falcons in hits.

Julie Centofanti led South Range with two hits in three at bats.  South Range did commit one error in the field. Dudich had the most chances in the field with eight.

LADY QUAKERS SPLIT WEEKEND SERIES WITH HARDING

WARREN, OH-

GAME ONE: SALEM- 8    WARREN G. HARDING- 0

Taylor Thorpe’s RBI double in the third inning scoring Rylie Troy got the Quakers out to a 1-0 lead. Brooke Veglia belted a homerun in the 6th scoring her good friend Meg Rossero to put the route in motion. Brooke Veglia added a rbi single in the 5 run 7th for the Lady Quakers. Meg Rossero, Elly Exline and Rylie Troy each had two hits in the game. Madison Markovich nailed a double to the fence and added a single. Hayden Carner chipped in with a single in the 12 hit parade.

Taylor Thorpe raised her regular season out of conference record the past two seasons to 18-0 with a three-hit shutout.

The Salem defense played error-free ball with 15 total outs recorded by infielders. Hannah Kelm had the most chances with 6 on defense. Elly Exline and Brooke Veglia had 5 each.

 

GAME TWO:  WARREN G. HARDING- 10     SALEM- 4

Brooke Veglia had three more hits including a double in the second game of the doubleheader to take her hitting streak to 8 games. Meg Rossero and Elly Exline also stayed hot with 3 hits each in the game. Taylor Thorpe extended her hitting streak to 11 games with a single.

The Quakers stranded 12 runners in the game.

Thorpe took the loss in the circle. Freshman Rylie Troy came on in relief and struck out the first two batters she faced and ended with 3 on the evening.

Elly Exline was involved in 7 outs defensively from her third base position with 0 errors.

The Quakers are now 11-5 on the season and senior night is slated for Monday vs Canton South.

Despite the score, the Lady Quakers kept their streak of not getting out hit or struck out – in every game this season.

PEEBLES GIVES LADY DEVILS FIRST BLEMISH

LISBON, OH- They say every good thing must come to an end.  After 17 straight wins for the Lisbon Lady Blue Devils softball team, the suffered their first defeat.  Now it’s time to start a new streak.  Lisbon lost the lead late in a 12-7 defeat to Peebles on Saturday. The game was tied at five with Peebles batting in the top of the fifth when Lanie Johnston singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.

Despite the loss, Lisbon did collect ten hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Peebles had 11 hits on the way to victory.

Peebles got things started in the first inning. Madison Pierce grounded out, scoring one run.  After Peebles scored three runs in the top of the third, Lisbon answered with three of their own. Peebles scored when Kyndell Lloyd drew a walk, scoring one run and Hope Brown singled on a 0-1 count, scoring a pair. The Lady Blue Devils then answered when Justyce Vrable doubled, scoring two runs and McKenna Dailey‘s sac fly scored one run for Lisbon.  In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Lady Devils tied things up at five.  Lisbon scored one run when Kenedy Vrable doubled.

Pierce got the win for Peebles. She surrendered seven runs on ten hits over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one.

Emma Thompson took the loss for Lisbon. She surrendered seven runs on five hits over four and two-thirds innings.  Mya Emmerling started the game for Lisbon. She surrendered five runs on six hits over two and a third innings, striking out two

Lisbon smacked two home runs on the day. Dailey went for the long ball in the seventh inning. Justyce Vrable went yard in the first.  Lisbon tallied ten hits in the game. Mallory GalloVrable, and Vrable each collected multiple hits for the Lady Devils. VrableVrable, and Gallo each collected two hits to lead the squad.

Peebles tallied 11 hits. Marissa Moore and Brycelyn Short all managed multiple hits for Peebles. Moore went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Peebles in hits.

LADY EAGLES LIGHT UP NORTON

AKRON, OH- There were runs aplenty on Sunday, as the Hubbard Lady Eagles defeated Norton 9-6.  Norton opened up scoring in the first inning. Skidmore drove in one when she doubled.  However, after a couple of goose eggs on offense, the Eagles pulled away for good with five runs in the third inning. In the frame Sydney Bowser singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run, Hannah Kist drew a walk with the bases loaded, Jackie Adler singled, scoring one run, and Hubbard scored two on an error in center field.

Norton scored three runs in the seventh inning but just couldn’t complete the comeback on the Lady Eagles. Norton’s big inning was driven by singles by Brokloff and Azzolina.

Grace Narkum earned the victory in the pitcher’s circle for Hubbard Lady Eagles Varsity. She allowed ten hits and six runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking zero.

Appel took the loss for Norton. She lasted five innings, allowing six hits and seven runs while striking out seven.

Hubbard totaled nine hits. BowserKellsie LeshnakAdler, and Gillian Ryser all managed multiple hits for the team. RyserAdlerLeshnak, and Bowser each managed two hits to set the tone for the day.

Norton totaled ten hits in the game. AmentiniSkidmore, and Brokloff each collected multiple hits for Norton.

LADY IRISH RUN THE TABLE DOWN SOUTH

MYRTLE BEACH, SC-  There’s something about being at the beach that makes the Lady Irish from Ursuline nearly super-human on the softball field.

For the second straight year, the Green Machine is undefeated on their spring break tour.

Ursuline (16-2) ended their 2019 Myrtle Beach Grand Strand Tournament with a 5-0 record as they beat Mt de Sales (MD) 8-1. Emily Holland (8-2) pitched a 4-hitter and struck out three. Julia Nutter went 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, a triple and 5 RBI. Maris Barbato added a single, triple and 3 runs scored while Emma Ericson chipped in with 2 hits.

LADY RAIDERS CRUISE OUT OF MYRTLE WITH A WIN

Bree Kohler didn’t allow a single run against Keyser, throwing a complete game shutout and leading South Range to a 8-0 victory on Friday

The Raiders pulled off the big victory without ever scoring many runs in an inning. The most they scored was two in the seventh.

The Raiders got things started in the first inning.  Bree Kohler drove in two when she homered.

A single by Alexa Shoemaker in the fourth inning was a positive for Keyser.

Bree Kohler earned the win for South Range. She allowed two hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out 12 and walking one.

Shoemaker took the loss for Keyser. She surrendered six runs on eight hits over six innings, striking out two.

The Raiders tallied one home run on the day. Bree Kohler went for the long ball in the first inning.

South Range saw the ball well today, racking up 11 hits in the game.  Hanna Dennison, Kali Dudich, and Bree Kohler all managed multiple hits for South Range Raiders.  Bree Kohler, Kali Dudich, and Hanna Dennison all had two hits to lead South Range Raiders.  Hanna Dennison led the Raiders with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with nine stolen bases.

Keyser didn’t commit a single error in the field. Aubrey Smith had the most chances in the field with six.

LADY IRISH STORM FORT LEBOUEF IN COMBINED 2-HITTER

MYRTLE BEACH, SC- Ursuline (15-2) beat LeBouef (PA) 11-1 in 6 innings behind Emma Ericson (8-0) & Emily Holland 2-hitter and 10 strikeouts at the Myrtle Beach Grand Strand Tournament. Julia Nutter had 3 hits which included 2 doubles and 3 RBI.  Gia Caldrone added 3 hits and 2 RBI while Destiny Goodnight had 3 hits and 3 runs scored. Holland doubled for the Lady Irish.

DAILEY DRIVES IN 7, LISBON TOPPLES LADY CARDS

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- The Lisbon Lady Blue Devils softball team continues to earn respect around the area as a top contender.

Lisbon took the lead late and defeated Cardinal Mooney 14-11 on Thursday. The game was tied at six with Lisbon batting in the top of the fifth when Kaity Clark singled, scoring one run.

McKenna Dailey led the Lady Devils to victory by driving in seven runs. She went 2-for-3 at the plate. Dailey drove in runs on a grand slam in the first and a home run in the fifth.

Lisbon got things moving in the first inning. Emma Thompson hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.  Cardinal Mooney would respond by scoring five runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for Cardinal Mooney came thanks to doubles by PerryFrancis, and Sapp, a single by Chet Rinaldi, and a groundout by Francis.

Thompson took the win for the Blue Machine. She allowed 11 hits and ten runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out two. Mya Emmerling threw one-third of an inning in relief.

Francis took the loss for Cardinal Mooney. She surrendered 14 runs on nine hits over six innings, striking out five.

Lisbon smacked three home runs on the day. Autumn Oehlstromwent deep in the fifth inning. Dailey went yard twice with a long ball in the first and fifth innings.

Lisbon tallied nine hits. OehlstromDailey, and Justyce Vrable all had multiple hits for the Lady Blue Devils. VrableDailey, and Oehlstrom each collected two hits to lead the team.

Cardinal Mooney scattered 12 hits in the game. RinaldiSapp, and Chandler all collected multiple hits for Cardinal Mooney.

ERICSON PITCHES 2-HITTER, LADY IRISH CONTINUE TO SHINE IN MYRTLE

MYRTLE BEACH, SC- Ursuline (13-2) beat Southwestern (NY) HS in 5 innings behind Emma Ericson’s 2-hitter at the Myrtle Beach Grand Strand tournament. Ericson also hit a double and 2 RBI as she struck out 5 and is now 7-0 on the season.

Emily Holland had 3 hits which included a double and 3 RBI while Maris Barbato added a single and double. Also for the Lady Irish, Madelyn Miklandric hit an RBI triple and Gia Caldrone and Jenna O’Hara each had 2 RBI.

LADY DEVILS SEIZE BEAVER LOCAL

LISBON, OH- Justyce Vrable came to the ballpark and meant business on Wednesday, driving in four on two hits to lead Lisbon past Beaver Local 13-3 on Wednesday. Vrable drove in runs on a double in the second, a single in the third, and a sacrifice fly in the fourth.

Lisbon opened up scoring in the first inning when an error scored one run for David Anderson Blue Devils Varsity.  Lisbon put up six runs in the third inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Vrable and Kaity Clark, a sacrifice fly by Kenedy Vrable, and a fielder’s choice by McKenna Dailey.

Emma Thompson led the Lady Devils to victory on the rubber. She surrendered three runs on five hits over five innings, striking out three and walking zero.

Thurick took the loss for Beaver. She surrendered 13 runs on 11 hits over four innings.

Lisbon tallied one home run on the day. Autumn Oehlstrom had a homer in the second inning.  The Lady Devils saw the ball well today, racking up 11 hits in the game. VrableMya EmmerlingOehlstrom, and Vrable all had multiple hits for LisbonVrableOehlstromEmmerling, and Vrable all had two hits to lead the team.

Leah Pancake went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Beaver in hits.
