SOUTH RANGE SWEEPS THE SATURDAY AT STOW

In the Doug Hawkins Memorial Tournament, South Range made a statement with back-to-back wins against tough opponents, Tallmadge and Stow, on Saturday afternoon.

In the first game against the reigning state champion of Division 2, Tallmadge, South Range’s offense came alive with Keira Brogan leading the charge with a 2-for-3 performance, driving in 2 RBIs and scoring a run. Riley DeCiancio also contributed with 2 hits and a run scored. Anna Aey added an RBI to secure the 3-0 victory. Pitcher Jayli Wilt delivered a stellar performance, tossing a complete game shutout with 4 strikeouts, only giving up 5 hits.

In the second game against Stow, South Range continued their offensive prowess with Wilt leading the way again, going 3-for-5 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored. DeCiancio and Aey contributed with 2 RBIs each, while Solena DeJesus, Keira Brogan, and Gretchen Bartels added RBIs of their own. Despite a strong offensive showing from Stow, South Range held on for the 11-7 win.

Ashley Rupert made her second start of the season in the circle, pitching a complete game, allowing 7 unearned runs on 8 hits with 2 strikeouts.

South Range has one big challenge ahead before their attention turns to the postseason.  The Raiders have their final conference series on Monday and Tuesday with Lakeview to decide an NE8 champion. South Range needs to win both games to grab a title outright.

WILDCATS KNOW HOW TO HONOR THEIR SENIORS

Struthers softball celebrated their senior night in style, securing a commanding 12-2 victory over Chaney.

Emma Morris led the offensive charge with a stellar performance, tallying three hits, two RBIs, and scoring a run. Lexa Tovtin also had a standout game, recording three hits, including two doubles, and driving in three runs. Ava Hall contributed significantly with three hits, including a double and a triple, and scored three runs.

Bella Sandusky showcased her power at the plate with two doubles, two RBIs, and a run, while Riley Guy added two hits, including a double, two RBIs, and three runs. Morgan Minno capped off the offensive display with a home run, an RBI, and a run scored.

In addition to her offensive contributions, Morgan Minno took the mound and delivered a stellar performance, pitching a complete game for the win. She allowed just four hits and two runs while striking out three Chaney batters.

EAST PALESTINE HAS A FUN FRIDAY

EAST PALESTINE OH- East Palestine had a fantastic Friday night, sweeping a conference doubleheader against Wellsville. In game one, they cruised to a 9-2 victory, and in game two, they narrowly edged out Wellsville with a score of 10-9.

In the first game, Madison Foster led the offensive charge, going 2-3 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Taylor Foster also had a strong performance, going 2-3 with 1 RBI and 3 runs scored. Cami Kridler and Kennedy Andre each contributed RBIs, and Gabby Andre scored 3 runs.

On the mound, Gabby Andre pitched a solid game, allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits over 5 innings while striking out 2 batters.

In the second game, Emma Gingher led the offensive charge, going 2-2 with 2 RBIs and 1 run scored. Taylor Foster continued her strong performance with 2 more RBIs and 2 runs scored. Lilly Ratner and Jasmine Ludt also contributed RBIs, with Ludt scoring 2 runs.

CAMPBELL SCORES PLENTY FOR THEIR SENIORS

CAMPBELL OH- Campbell celebrated their senior class in style on Friday night with a commanding 20-10 win over Springfield.

Mileena Williams led the offensive charge, going 3-3 with 3 RBIs, 3 walks, and 3 runs scored. Angeliz Diaz and Angelis Espada also had big nights, with Diaz going 2-5 with 3 RBIs and Espada contributing 2-2 with 2 RBIs, a walk, and 3 runs scored. Ramani Adams added 2 RBIs, and Abby Broz and Cyra Cross each chipped in with RBIs as well.

In the circle, Adams had a strong performance, allowing just 2 hits and no earned runs over 4 innings while striking out 6 batters.

Springfield put up a fight, with Gina Romeo, Olivia Allen, and Emily Conner leading the offensive effort. Romeo had 2 RBIs, while Allen contributed 1 RBI and scored 2 runs. Conner went 2-3 with a walk and scored a run, and Zoey Douglas added an RBI.

LEOPARDS SUFFER A HOME HEARTBREAK

LOUISVILLE OH- Louisville suffered a tough loss in a nail-biter on Friday night, falling 10-9 to Lake.

Matti Benson led Louisville’s offense, going 2-2 with a home run, driving in 2 runs and scoring 2 runs herself. Leah Claugus contributed with a 2-4 performance, adding 2 RBIs and scoring a run. Olivia Mongiardo went 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored, while Kenzie Denzer and Katelyn Miller each added an RBI to the scoreboard.

WEST BRANCH BRINGS THE HEAT

CANTON OH- West Branch brought the heat on Friday, overpowering old rival Canton South with a convincing 11-2 victory.

Matti Hawk led the charge for West Branch, going 2-3 with a home run, driving in an impressive 5 runs. Sara Schmidt also had a stellar performance at the plate, going 4-5 with an RBI. Klary McKay contributed with 2 hits and an RBI, while Ellie Tucker crossed the plate 3 times on her 3 hits.

I’m the circle, Ellie Tucker dominated, pitching the complete game with 7 innings, allowing just 1 earned run on 6 hits while striking out 7 batters.

URSULINE UNBOTHERED ON THE ROAD

Ursuline showcased their strength on the road Friday with a solid 7-4 victory over Madison.

The Ursuline offense was firing on all cylinders, led by Katie Koulianos, who went 4-4 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Arri Wendt contributed with 2 hits and 2 RBIs, while Brooke Burton scored twice on her 3 hits. Gia Schiavone also played a key role, reaching base with a hit and a walk, scoring 2 runs.

In the circle, Bella Zamaria dominated for 5 innings, allowing just 2 hits and no runs while striking out 1. Lilly Ditz pitched the final 2 innings, giving up 2 earned runs on 5 hits while striking out 2.

With a balanced offensive attack and solid pitching, Ursuline secured the win and continued their successful road trip.

EAGLES WALK OFF ENDS OFFENSIVE MARATHON

HANOVERTON OH- It was a marathon of a game on Friday for United as they faced off against Mineral Ridge, ultimately outlasting the Rams in a thrilling 16-15 victory that ended with a walk-off double in the 9th inning.

Grace Coffee emerged as the hero for United, delivering the game-winning blow with a clutch 2 RBI double to seal the win.

United’s offense was firing on all cylinders, led by Joshlynn Irey, who went 4-6 with a home run, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs scored. Sam Lippiatt, Kiley Hetherington, and Brittany Miller also made significant contributions with multiple hits and RBIs.

Mineral Ridge put up a valiant effort, with Aaliyah Wall, Sullivan Sandy, and Laney Rigley leading the offensive charge with three RBIs each. Megan Haynie and Lily Merolillo also contributed with key hits and runs scored.

TATAR BOMBS LEAD TIGERS TO ROUT IN ROOTSTOWN

ROOTSTOWN OH- Howland showcased their dominance on Friday night, delivering a commanding 10-0 shutout victory over Rootstown.

At the plate, Brooke Tatar led the offensive charge, going 3-4 with an impressive three home runs, driving in 4 runs and scoring 3 herself. Alyssa Massucci also contributed significantly, going 2-4 with a home run, 4 RBIs, and 3 runs scored. Madison Schmitz, Sydney VaNess, and Abigail Lewis each added key hits and RBIs to bolster Howland’s offense.

In the circle, Tatar showcased her skill set not only with the bat but also with her arm, pitching 5 innings, allowing just 3 hits while striking out 8 batters, keeping Rootstown off the scoreboard. Maya Kubanscek came in for relief and continued the shutout, pitching 2 innings with 3 strikeouts and not allowing any hits or runs.

BOARDMAN TAKES DOWN STATE POWER HOUSE ON THE ROAD

LAGRANGE OH- In an impressive road performance, Boardman Softball took down the division 3 powerhouse, Keystone, with a 7-3 victory on Friday night.

Boardman’s offense came out swinging, led by Ellie Wymer, who went 3-4 with a home run, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Mikayla Rivera also contributed a home run, going 2-3 with 1 RBI, 1 walk, and 2 runs scored. Maddie Wymer, Tori Strines, and Ava Freeborough added key hits and RBIs to secure the win.

On the mound, Addie Kowacich started strong, pitching 3 innings with 3 strikeouts, allowing 3 earned runs on 2 hits. Tori Strines came in for relief and shut down Keystone, pitching 4 innings with 6 strikeouts and not allowing any hits or runs.

Boardman’s victory over Keystone is a testament to their strength and resilience as they continue to make their mark in the softball scene.
