CHARLIE AND THE BAT FACTORY

LOUISVILLE OH- Charlie Roberts is one of the headlines of a Louisville baseball team that is taking the state of Ohio by storm. Coming into the district tournament as a middle of the pack seed, no one outside of the locker room thought much of the Leopards. Yet, here they are proving their doubters wrong one upset at a time. They’re on a 9 game win streak, which includes their 3-0 shutout of University School on Thursday night. The win got them to their first regional final since 1988.

Charlie Roberts and his speed play a big part in the Leopards success. Not only is Charlie a handful when he gets on the base paths, but his awareness and athleticism in center field make the outfield grass a literal no fly zone for opponents. And the wild thing is, he hadn’t played center field until 14U. His left handed glove put him a first base for his career before that. However, we believe now he has found his true calling. It makes sense with the center fielder his dad was in his day. Roberts is part of a baseball lineage that goes back generations. In fact his grandfather and father are the only father son duo to both homer at Thurman Munson Stadium in Canton. If Charlie goes yard Friday night, he’ll be the third generation to leave that ball park. The same park where he made his first start in center field. The story writes itself.

Charlie took the time to come on to YSN’s Running Point to talk about this tremendous run the Leopards are on. He talked with Anthony Hartwig, Ty Bartell, and DJ Yokley about his baseball heritage, his teammates, and so much more.
