CLIPPERS GET FIRST WIN AT THE BEACH

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH SC- Both teams were strong in the circle on Thursday, but Columbiana opened their spring break trip and defeated Moon Area 3-1. Mackenzi Gamble started the game for Columbiana and recorded 21 outs. Gamble struck out 15 batters on the day. She also surrendered six hits and one run over seven innings while walking one.

Moon Area got on the board in the fourth inning after Macy Trost singled, scoring one run. Caitlynn Pleska doubled, which helped Columbiana tie the game at one in the bottom of the fourth.

Columbiana took the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the fifth. Kylie Zalin took the loss for Moon Area. They went six innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits, striking out three and walking one.

Pleska led the Clippers with one run batted in. The shortstop went 1-for-2 on the day. Alaina Johnston and Cameron Perkins each collected two hits.

Kendall Chambers went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Tigers in hits. Moon Area turned one double play in the game.
