JFK TURNS TITLE GAME INTO A RUNAWAY

MCDONALD OH- Everyone in the local sports world was a little surprised when Warren JFK chose to join McDonald’s district as the two seed. The passed up being the top seed in a district to prove that they were indeed the best Division IV team in the area.  Message received, JFK went into McDonald on Friday night and ran away with a 77-55.

The Eagles got off to a very fast start. Putting the Devils in shock in the first quarter. Deep into the first half, McDonald fought back and was able to tie the game 31-31. The Eagles however, ended the half on a 8-0 run to take a 39-31 lead, and the momentum into the locker room. The Devils battled to stay in striking distance in the second half, but eventually the dams broke and JFK was able to sail to the district championship.

Cam Hollobaugh led the Eagles with with a double double finishing with 19 points, and 16 rebounds. Two other Eagles got in to double figures as Gabe Green finished with 16 and Jaden Rishel contributed 12.

Jake Portolese carries the torch for the McDonald offense scoring 18 points. He also completed a double double bringing down 10 rebounds. Miles Culp contributed 16 points to the McDonald cause.

JFK advances to the regional semifinal to play Lucas. That game will take place at Firestone High School in Akron. Tip off is slated for 5:30.
