CLIPPERS GET THE JOB DONE

SALINEVILLE OH- Mackenzi Gamble struck out 18 batters as they led Columbiana past Southern 4-0 on Monday. Gamble surrendered three hits and zero runs over seven innings while walking one.

Columbiana opened the scoring in the first after Gamble singled, scoring one run. They added one run in the third. Gamble singled, making the score 2-0.

Alexis Ensinger took the loss for Southern. The righty went seven innings, surrendering four runs (three earned) on 11 hits, striking out seven and walking two.

The Clippers tallied 11 hits in the game. Gamble drove the middle of the lineup, leading with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 3-for-3 on the day. Ava Davanzo, Maryn Hepler, and Caitlynn Pleska each collected multiple hits. Gamble threw an immaculate inning in the second, striking out the side on nine pitches. The Clippers were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Cameron Perkins made the most plays with 18.
