RAIDERS OWN THE DAY

CANFIELD OH- Gretchen Bartels collected four hits in four at bats, as South Range defeated Hubbard 11-1 on Monday. Bartels singled in the first inning, singled in the third inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the fourth inning.

Hubbard were the first to get on the board in the first when Haleigh Taylor doubled, scoring one run. South Range jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Hubbard committed an error, Bartels singled, and Heidi Bartels singled, each scoring one run. The Raiders added one run in the second after Giada Pauline grounded out. They kept on extending their early lead with four runs in the bottom of the third thanks to RBI singles by Bartels, Solena DeJesus, and Pauline.

Jayli Wilt earned the win for the Raiders. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and one run over five innings, striking out eight and walking none. Phoebe Rusnak took the loss for Hubbard. She went three innings, giving up eight runs (four earned) on 10 hits, striking out one and walking none.

South Range collected 15 hits in the game. Pauline went 2-for-4 at the plate as the right-handed hitter led the team with four runs batted in. Bartels, Wilt, and Keira Brogan each collected multiple hits. The Raiders were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Bartels made the most plays with eight.

Taylor led Hubbard with one run batted in. The infielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Rusnak led Hubbard with two hits in two at bats.
