CLIPPERS MAKING A LOT OF NOISE

COLUMBIANA OH- Columbiana defeated Salem 10-0 on Monday thanks in part to six runs in the fifth inning. Caitlynn Pleska hit a solo home run to right field, Mackenzi Gamble hit a solo home run to center field, Anna Yonker singled, scoring one run, Ella Dota drew a walk, scoring one run, and Lewis induced Cameron Perkins to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Columbiana got on the board in the first inning after Ava Davanzo singled, scoring two runs.

The Clippers added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Salem committed an error, and Pleska hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

Gamble earned the win for Columbiana. She gave up one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking none.

Gamble and Pleska were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits. Davanzo and Pleska each drove in two runs. Perkins stole two bases.

Columbiana didn’t commit a single error in the field. Perkins had the most chances in the field with eight.
