EAGLES PUT THE CLAMPS DOWN ON GARFIELD

GARRETTSVILLE OH-

JFK defeated Garfield 3-0 on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Freddy Bolchalk induced a fly out from Vinnie Grandizio to finish off the game.

The pitching was strong on both sides. The Eagles pitchers struck out 11, while Garfield pitchers sat down five.

A double by Tyler Bortz in the third inning was a positive for Garfield.

Caleb Hadley earned the win for JFK. The pitcher went four innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out seven and walking zero. Bolchalk threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Bolchalk recorded the last nine outs to earn the save.

Lenny Veccia took the loss for Garfield. The bulldog lasted five innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out three and walking zero.

JFK totaled seven hits. Gavin Shrum, Jake Hettrick, and Hadley each racked up multiple hits. Hadley, Hettrick, and Shrum each collected two hits to lead the offense.

Bortz went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Garfield in hits.
