FITCH FEELS FINE ON THE ROAD

BOARDMAN OH- After their first 5 games of the season being played in the friendly confines of their home field, Fitch finally got to test their merit on the road in Boardman.  The hostile environment didn’t phase the Falcons as they once again shut out an AAC opponent in a 6-0 win over the Spartans.

The Falcons scored a run in all but two of the innings they came to the plate.  They got things started in the first when Ayla Ray opened the game with a triple.  She would then score on a Caitlin Mitchell ground out.  In the second inning Abby Toth hit a RBI double to score Sam Severn.  and Sydnie Watts homered in the third. The Falcons would also score in the fifth and the sixth innings.

Ray had the most productive day in the lineup knocking in 2 RBI on a 2-3 effort.  Watts gathered multiple hits going 2-3 with a walk, a RBI, and a run scored.  Severn also had multiple hits going 2-4 with 2 runs scored.  Ashlee McLean pulled up the bottom of the order going 2-3 with a RBI.

Watts threw another solid game in the circle for Fitch. Although Boardman made her work hard, she gave up no runs in the complete game effort. She struck out 11, walked one, and gave up 6 hits.

Boardman definitely got themselves in position to score. They had back to back innings in the second and third with two runners on with two outs. The timely hit eluded them however.  Gabi Sferra was the only Spartan with multiple hits going 2-3.  Natalie Davis had the Spartans first hit of the day, and got called out trying to stretch it to a double.  Tori Strines, Ava Freeborough, and Olivia LaCivita each got hits as well.

Fitch will return home on Wednesday as they host Massillon Perry.  The first pitch for that game is 5:00. Boardman will have some time off before they return to the field on Saturday for two games at Poland against the Bulldogs, and Brookfield.  They’ll play Poland at 11:00 and Brookfield at 1:00.
