FITCH UP FOR THE TASK AGAINST STATE POWER

AUSTINTOWN OH-  The Lady Falcon Softball team improved their record to 18-2 on the season with a 3-1 victory over Mathews on Thursday evening.  While the Falcons still have one more conference game to play against Howland on Tuesday, May 10, they were assured the outright AAC Championship due to Canfield defeating Howland earlier in the day.

Freshmen Sydnie Watts was dominant in the circle again as she struck out 14 batters and allowed only 1 hit (a solo home run).  She added a solo home run herself to help the offense against a stingy Matthews pitcher.

Sophomore Ayla Ray had two hits (single, double) and scored two runs for the Falcons.  Seniors Maddy Taylor and Samantha Aey each had RBI singles that plated Ray.

The team will prepare for a doubleheader against Massillon on Saturday with the first game beginning at 11:00 AM and the second game to follow at approximately 1:00 PM.
