GIRARD MAKES SHORT WORK OF DRAGONS

GIRARD, OH- The Girard Indians made quick work of McKinley, shutting them out 12-0 on Monday in a display of dominance from start to finish.

Right out of the gate, Girard got rolling when Zach Ward smashed a double and Kaiden Clare followed up with a single, each driving in a run to get things going in the first inning. Jaden Royal kept the pressure on in the second, padding the lead with an RBI single to make it 3-0.

The Indians really turned up the heat in the fourth inning, plating five runs on five hits. Joe Marsco kicked off the action with an RBI single, then a couple of errors by McKinley allowed two more runs to score. Clare and Dominic Phillips didn’t miss their chance to contribute, each adding RBI singles to the mix.

Camron Herrick was the star on the mound, snagging the win with a stellar two-hit, shutout performance over five innings, striking out six. On the flip side, McKinley’s L Turner had a rough outing, giving up eight runs (only one earned) across four innings.

The Indians’ bats were on fire, racking up 14 hits throughout the game. Ward was a major player, driving in three runs and going 2-for-4. Phillips, Marsco, Ward, Clare, and Royal all had multi-hit games, showing off a balanced offensive attack. Marsco and Royal turned up the speed too, each swiping multiple bases as part of Girard’s total of seven stolen bases.

Defensively, Girard was flawless, notching a clean sheet without a single error. Royal was everywhere, leading the team with six defensive chances.

For McKinley, Williams and Clark managed to grab a hit apiece, but it wasn’t nearly enough to spark any momentum.

Girard is set to host McKinley again on Tuesday, looking to repeat their dominant performance and keep the wins rolling.
