GIRARD PUTS DOWN FITCH IN STRAIGHT SETS

GIRARD OH- It was a marquee matchup on Monday night in the volleyball scene as Girard and Fitch faced off in a non conference match. With Girard being ranked 6 in the YSN Power Rankings, and Fitch ranked 3rd, it was a showdown for the ages. However, Girard made sure that the excitement was short lived. They dominated their way to a sweep of the Falcons to send a message to the rest of the teams in the area. (25-18 25-14 25-22)

Bree Latell had one of the best nights of her career. Not only did she lead Girard in kills with 16, she also finished with no errors.  Lauren Pallone finished with 13 kills on the night for the Indians, while Ezra Dede added 5.  Ali Durkin finished the night with 29 assists setting up Girard’s offense.  The Indians serve was trouble all night. They finished with 11 aces as a team.  Bailey Walters led them with 4.  As far as the defense goes, Walters led Girard with 11. Latell gathered 8 on the night.

Fitch was led by Jocelyn Jourdan who finished with 13 kills. Kylie Folkwein contributed 8 kills for the Falcons.  Rylie Simons set up 27 assists on the night to keep the Falcons offense running.  She led the defense as well, completing a double double with 10 digs.

Girard will stay home on Tuesday as they return to league play hosting Poland.  Fitch will look ahead to a big second matchup with Canfield at home on Thursday.
