HOBAN PASSES THE BATS IN ANOTHER DOMINANT WIN

Gracelyn Schultz was dominant in the circle, as the starting pitcher rang up 10 strikeouts in Archbishop Hoban’s 11-1 victory over Whitley County on Thursday in Tennessee. Schultz gave up four hits and one run over six innings while walking two. Taylor Gerring collected four hits in four at bats in the win. Gerring singled in the fifth inning, singled in the first inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the sixth inning.

The Knights opened the scoring in the second after Elli Weigand homered to left field, scoring two runs. They added one run in the third. Mya Akers tripled, making the score 3-0. They scored five more runs on five hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Gerring singled, scoring one run, Akers doubled, scoring two runs, Schultz tripled, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.

Hoban piled up 15 hits in the game. Akers drove the middle of the lineup, leading with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Gulia Scaglione and Schultz each collected multiple hits. Gerring stole two bases.
