Ursuline managed through a push by Waterloo in the seventh inning where they coughed up three runs, but the Irish still won 8-4 on Wednesday to win the sectional final, and advance to districts. Kyle Werbeck and Noah Hughes each drove in runs in the frame for Waterloo.

Ursuline notched three runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught was led by Brady Shannon, Tom Groner, and Andrew Kirila, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Kirila earned the victory on the hill for Ursuline. The lefthander lasted six and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and four runs while striking out 12. Danny Smith threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Mason Hakin took the loss for the Vikings. The pitcher allowed two hits and two runs over three innings, striking out one.

Ursuline tallied eight hits. Luca Ricchiuti and Nick Bako each collected multiple hits. Bako and Ricchiuti each managed two hits to lead.

Luke Simons led Waterloo with two hits in four at bats.

Ursuline moves on to the Struthers district semifinal on Monday. They are awaiting an opponent as the sectional final between LaBrae and Cardinal got delayed in the 2nd inning tied at 1. The Irish will play the winner of that game at Cene Park on Monday at 6:30.
