JFK FLIES PAST MATHEWS AT CENE

STRUTHERS, OH-Warren John F. Kennedy scored ten runs in the fourth on its way to a 14-2 victory over Mathews on Wednesday. Aidan Rossi, Caleb Hadley, Jake Hettrick, Jaden Rishel, Michael Mauro, and Alex DeSalvo each had RBIs in the big inning.

In the first inning, JFK got their offense started when an error scored one run, then the floodgates opened when JFK scored ten runs in the fourth inning. The Eagles put the pressure on, led by singles by Rossi, Hadley, Mauro, and DeSalvo, doubles by Hettrick and Dominic Ryan, and an error on a ball put in play by Rishel.

Gavin Shrum got the win for Kennedy. The righty lasted four innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out eight. Freddy Bolchalk threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Tyler Pesa took the loss for Mathews, the pitcher allowed five hits and four runs over three innings, striking out one and walking zero.

Kennedy totaled 13 hits in the game. Rossi, DeSalvo, and Hettrick each managed multiple hits for JFK. DeSalvo and Rossi each collected three hits to lead the reigning state champs.
