KNIGHTS ADVANCE IN DRAMATIC FASHION

AKRON, OHIO- The Archbishop Hoban Knights took Wednesday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 2-1 walk-off victory over Louisville, sending them to the district semi-finals.

The game was tied at one with the Knights batting in the bottom of the seventh when Mackenzie Wood singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

The Knights saw the ball well today, racking up nine hits in the game as Robyn Ryan and Taylor Gerring each managed multiple hits.

The pitching was strong on both sides as Faith Porter struck out 15, while Anna Sirohman sat down five.

The Leopards got things started in the first inning when Matti Benson hit a solo homer but, in the bottom of the first inning, the Knights tied things up at one when Sidney Conti singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Porter was the winning pitcher in the circle as the righty surrendered one run on four hits over seven innings, striking out 15.

Shelby Mayle went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead as Sirohman took the loss for Louisville as the righty went six innings, allowing two runs on nine hits, striking out five and walking one.
