Game 1

Poland sailed to an easy victory over Wheeling Central Catholic 21-1 on Saturday

In the first inning, Poland got their offense started.  Ashley Wire was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.

Kaili Gross earned the win for the Bulldogs. She lasted five innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out 12 and walking one.

Cupp took the loss for Wheeling Central. She lasted four innings, allowing 14 hits and 20 runs.

Poland racked up 16 hits.  Abby Farber, Jackie Grisdale, Cami Lattanzio, Lauren Sienkiewicz, and Ally Nittoli each managed multiple hits for the Bulldogs.  Grisdale and Farber each collected three hits to lead the offense.  Poland  was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Lattanzio made the most plays with  12.

Game 2

Poland nabbed the lead late in the game in a 6-4 victory over Steubenville on Saturday.  Poland  trailed 4-2 in the top of the seventh inning when Cami Lattanzio doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring three runs.

Steubenville scored three runs in the fifth inning, but the Bulldogs still managed to pull out the victory.  The big inning for Steubenville came thanks to a home run by Blackburn and  by Cucarese.

Ashley Wire led things off in the circle for Poland. She lasted seven innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out three and walking one.

Fields started the game for Steubenville. She went seven innings, allowing six runs on 12 hits, striking out four and walking one.

Poland socked one home run on the day. Kaili Gross had a four bagger in the sixth inning.

The Bulldogs totaled 12 hits.  Gross, Ally Nittoli, Lattanzio, and Wire each racked up multiple hits.  Gross went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the offense in hits.

Steubenville was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Marshall made the most plays with  11.
