LADY FALCONS SWEEP BOARDMAN

BOARDMAN, OH- The Austintown Fitch Girls Hoops Team went into hostile territory on Monday night and thanks to a fast start, rolled out with a 63-53 victory over Boardman.

The win marks the first time in 3 seasons that Fitch has swept the season series against the Lady Spartans, and the first victory in the SpartanDome since 2019.

Leading the way for the Lady Falcons was Zayda Creque with 26 points on the night, and was red-hot to start the game drilling 4 from deep in the first half.  Ayla Ray was a key contributor with 14 points, and Rachel Spalding had a career-high 10 in the contest.

For Boardman, The Spartans did have three players in double figures in the contest as Sophomore Mackenzie Riccitelli scored 18 points, and Juniors Reagan Smith and Cami Goske would score 11 points. Senior Emma Mills in her last home game would score 7 points, while Freshmen Ava Freeborough had 4 points and Sarah Bero had 2 points.

The Spartans will conclude their regular season campaign Thursday against Warren Harding, and then will turn their attention to Kent Roosevelt Saturday for the first round of the tournament.

For the Falcons, they locked in their 13th victory of the season which matches the number of wins over the past two seasons combined, and finish 4-4 in the conference.
