LADY SPARTANS COME UP SHY AGAINST AURORA

BOARDMAN, OH- Despite a 6-run deficit in the second inning, Boardman almost came all the way back, eventually falling 9-7 to Aurora on Saturday. Boardman Spartans Varsity scored five runs in the failed comeback on a single by Tori Strines in the second, a single by Madison Lester in the second, a double by Madison Wymer in the fifth, a triple by Nadia Rawhneh in the fifth, and a single by Sofia Hoffman in the fifth.

The Lady Spartans couldn’t keep up with Aurora early in the game. Aurora scored on a double by M Metzger in the first inning, a groundout by Miller in the first inning, a double by Retton in the first inning, a single by Dallesandro in the first inning, and a double by Retton in the second inning.

Boardman notched three runs in the fifth inning to start the comeback. The offense in the inning came from a triple by Rawhneh, a single by Hoffman, and a double by Wymer.

Metzger took the win for Aurora. The ace allowed ten hits and seven runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking one.

Strines took the loss for Boardman. Strines surrendered four runs on eight hits over six and two-thirds innings, striking out six.

Lester started the game for Boardman. The righthander went one-third of an inning, allowing five runs on four hits and walking zero

Boardman scattered ten hits in the game. Lester, Hoffman, Wymer, and Rawhneh all managed multiple hits for Boardman Spartans Varsity. Lester went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Spartans.

Aurora tallied 12 hits on the day. Petrash, Metzger, McVicker, and Retton all had multiple hits for Aurora. Aurora didn’t commit a single error in the field. K Ring had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
