LONG SHINES IN SEASON DEBUT

Tori Long didn’t allow a single run against Salem, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Columbiana to a 10-0 victory on Wednesday.

Long led Columbiana to victory by driving in four runs. Long went 3-for-4 at the plate. She drove in runs on a single in the third and a home run in the sixth.

The Clippers scored four runs in the fifth inning. Caitlynn Pleska, Ava Davanza, each had RBIs in the big inning.

One bright spot for Salem High School was a single by Riley Troy in the first inning.

Long pitched to victory. The fireballer allowed one hit and zero runs over six innings, striking out nine and walking one.

Troy was in the circle for Salem. The pitcher allowed 11 hits and ten runs over five innings, striking out two.

The Clippers tallied one home run on the day. Long had a long ball in the sixth inning.

Columbiana racked up 11 hits. Alaina Johnson, Long, Smith, and Davanza each collected multiple hits. Long and Johnson each collected three hits to lead Columbiana. The Clippers tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Julia Rapp led the way with three.

Troy led Salem with one hit in three at bats.
