SALEM OH- In a thrilling district championship showdown, Cardinal Mooney delivered a masterful performance to secure yet another title for their storied program, overpowering South Range with a dominant fourth-quarter surge to clinch an impressive 84-59 victory. The Cardinals showcased their championship pedigree and resilience, pulling away in the final quarter with a commanding 24-9 run to seal the win in style.
Leading the charge for Cardinal Mooney was Ashton O’Brien, whose stellar performance saw him erupt for 27 points, setting the tone for the team’s offensive onslaught. Rocco Turner added 17 points to the scoreboard, while Jibri Carter and Eddie Nieves contributed 16 and 14 points respectively, highlighting the Cardinals’ depth and firepower.
Despite a valiant effort from South Range, led by Luke Rohan’s impressive 22 points and Landon Moore’s 21 points (including 13 in the first quarter), they couldn’t withstand the relentless pressure from Cardinal Mooney’s relentless attack.
