RAIDERS FIND THEMSELVES IN ANOTHER DRAMATIC FINISH

CANFIELD OH- At this point, it seems like all South Range does is play in games that require dramatic finishes.  After coming off a win on the road against Girard with a buzzer beater by Ayden Leon, the Raiders now eyed Jefferson.  Because of that Raider victory over Girard Jefferson is now tied for first place in the NE8.  South Range came in just one game back from both teams.  The closeness of the teams in the standings formulated the kind of game you would expect. A close back and forth tug of war. The only question was who would have the final pull?

Jefferson led early, South Range led for a big chunk of the middle portion, and then Jefferson took a lead late. It was at that moment the Raiders made that final pull.  With the game tied with just under a minute to go, it was free throws making the difference. Dylan Turvey knocked down a pair on an intentional foul call, and then Leon knocked down two in the next possession.  With it now 63-59 the Falcons would score quick from three to cut it back to 1, and send Landon Moore to the free throw line with about 5 seconds left.  Moore would miss the shot, but his teammate Leon was there to clean it up, his offensive rebounded wasted the rest of the clock and gave the Raiders another thrilling win 63-62.

For the Raiders it was Moore that led the way. He put in 23 points on the night.  Leon was also clutch, especially down the stretch and finished with 15 points.  Luke Rohan was the Raiders biggest perimeter threat and finished with 14.

Anthony Cavetta and Joe DeGeorge both led the way for Jefferson with 22 points each.  Grant Hitchcock rounded out the rest of the Falcons scoring with 18.

South Range has a tough non league matchup on Saturday as they travel to Chaney.  Jefferson can bring themselves back to first place on Tuesday as they host Girard.
