RAIDERS GRAB REVENGE ON HUBBARD

CANFIELD OH- South Range dropped their first meeting with Hubbard earlier in the season, and it did not sit well with them. Before the game you could tell in warmups that the Raiders wanted to send a statement to not just Hubbard, but also themselves that they were better than they showed in the first matchup with the Eagles. The statement was made as the Raiders swept Hubbard (27-25 25-13 25-17).

The Raiders came our aggressive and grabbed a 3 point lead early. Although Hubbard wouldn’t let them storm ahead, the Raiders would not them rally to take a lead. That is until late in the set when the Eagles finally pulled ahead 23-22. The Raiders didn’t miss a beat though and pulled out clutch points to win set one 27-25.

The Raiders then put their foot down and dominated the rest of the night. Their aggressiveness from different spots on the floor, mixed with great defense from their back row overwhelmed the Eagles. The Raiders looked sharper than they’ve looked in some time. Players have been stepping into new positions all season, and they finally seemed to gel.

Izzy Lamparty has a great night and led the Raiders offense with 13 kills. She was also efficient and only had 2 attack errors on the night. Reagan Irons finished with a match-high 24 digs. Jamie Feren led the Raiders setters with 16 assists. Sarah Kuhns has 4 aces. Ally Sauerwein played great defense at the net with 5 blocks.

Emily Filicky led the Eagles in kills with 6. Sydney Bowser led the back row with 11 digs. Karissa Fahndrich set up 21 assists.

South Range has a big challenge ahead hosting Girard on Thursday. Hubbard will stay on the road and travel to Niles.
