RESERVE RISES TO THE OCCASION

MINERAL RIDGE OH- In a crucial MVAC matchup on Monday, Western Reserve rose to the occasion against a tough Mineral Ridge team, claiming a 6-1 victory in their first meeting with the Rams.

The Blue Devils wasted no time asserting their dominance, with Katie Byers leading the charge with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate, driving in 3 crucial RBIs. Caylee Selley, Kaleigh Williams, and Lindsay Jones each added an RBI of their own, while Allison Jones contributed with a stellar 3-for-4 outing and crossing the plate twice.

In the circle, Byers was equally impressive, pitching a complete game gem. She allowed just 3 hits, no earned runs, and struck out 4 batters, stifling Mineral Ridge’s offense at every turn.

Mineral Ridge showed some fight, with Sullivan Sandy leading the way with a 2-for-3 effort and driving in their lone run. Lainey Rigley also contributed with a hit and a walk.
