LAKERS SPEED PAST THE RAMS IN RESUMED GAME

ANDOVER OH-  Peyton Hudson was a nightmare for Mineral Ridge at the plate Thursday, racking up three hits—including a solo bomb to center—as Pymatuning Valley stormed to an 11-6 win.

The Lakers got rolling early thanks to a sac fly from Hannah Young in the first, but the Rams responded in the third. Maddie Gerberry brought one home with a groundout and Kelcee Dye followed with an RBI knock to give Ridge a short-lived lead.

Hudson and Allison Clark swung momentum right back with RBI singles in the home half of the third to make it 4-2. But Mineral Ridge wasn’t done yet. Lily Merolillo cleared the bases with a triple, then came home on Gerberry’s double to put the Rams up 6-4.

That lead didn’t last long. Macie Payne tied things up with a solo shot in the fourth, and Clark doubled to even the score at 6-all. The real dagger came in the fifth when Nataleigh Haines turned on a pitch and crushed a three-run blast over the left field fence. The Lakers poured in five runs in that inning to blow it open.

Hudson not only raked at the plate, she also picked up the win in the circle, tossing four innings in relief and holding Ridge to four runs. Young got the start and kept things steady through the first three. Mineral Ridge cycled through Merolillo and Savannah Turek, but neither could keep the Lakers’ bats quiet.

Pymatuning Valley racked up 13 hits, led by three-hit days from Hudson and McKenna Jordan. Clark and Kendall Gray each chipped in a pair. Jordan also swiped three bags as the Lakers ran wild with five steals total and flashed the leather with two double plays and a clean sheet defensively—Gray led the way with eight chances in the field.

Mineral Ridge tallied 10 hits of their own—Merolillo, Gerberry, and Sullivan Sandy each notched two. Merolillo finished with three RBIs and showed discipline at the plate as the Rams drew five walks.

Next up, the Lakers hit the road to face Jefferson on Saturday. The Rams now gear up for district semifinal action, hosting Crestview on Monday.

RAMS LOCK HORNS TO HEAD TO DISTRICTS

MINERAL RIDGE OH- Mineral Ridge wasted no time taking control on Wednesday, exploding for five runs in the first and cruising to a 12-2 win over Grand Valley.

The Mustangs struck first with a sac fly in the top of the first, but the Rams weren’t about to let that stand. They flipped the script quick—three hits and five runs later, they were in the driver’s seat. Kelcee Dye’s two-run single was the big swing in that early rally.

The Rams kept the pressure on in the second with a string of hits from Savannah Turek, Kourtni Kaminski, and Sullivan Sandy, then stretched the lead even more in the third on a rope of a double from Kaminski to make it 10-1.

Lily Merolillo held it down in the circle, going six strong innings, scattering five hits, and striking out six to grab the win. The defense had her back, playing clean all game with zero errors.

Ridge racked up 14 hits on the day. Megan Haynie and Sandy both went 3-for-4, Kaminski knocked in three, and Turek and Maddie Gerberry chipped in with multi-hit games of their own. Laney Rigley showed patience at the plate, drawing a pair of walks as the team totaled seven free passes.

Grand Valley had a couple flashes—Breanna Rowland drove in two and finished 2-for-2—but they couldn’t match Ridge’s firepower.

Next up for the Rams is a trip to Pymatuning Valley on Friday. After that, it’s back home for a big tournament showdown Monday against Crestview. Ridge is rolling—and they’re not slowing down.

LEOPARDS CANT CATCH RUNNING RAMS

LIBERTY OH- Mineral Ridge blew the doors off in the fifth inning and never looked back, cruising past Liberty 17-3 on Wednesday behind a 12-run outburst that turned a tight game into a runaway.

The Rams scratched across a run in the second and kept adding pressure in the third with another string of runs thanks to a mix of hits, errors, and smart baserunning. But the real fireworks came in the fifth. Ridge piled on 12 runs in one inning, fueled by walks, RBI singles, and a two-run double that broke Liberty’s back.

On the hill, Jimmy Nolder picked up the win after going 3.1 innings, giving up three hits and three runs—only two earned—while striking out four. Christian Dunlap came in and slammed the door, tossing 1.2 innings of shutout ball with three punchouts.

The offense was balanced and aggressive—Ridge racked up 11 stolen bases and seven walks, forcing Liberty to play catch-up all game. Multiple Rams had multi-hit games and drove in a pair of runs each, making it a full-squad effort.

Defensively, Ridge was sharp—no errors on the day and smooth in the field from start to finish. Next up, the Rams head to Jackson-Milton on Thursday looking to keep the momentum rolling.

RAMS WIN FIRST CONFERENCE CROWN SINCE 2004

By Ty Bartell

NORTH JACKSON, Ohio — The Mineral Ridge Rams clinched sole possession of the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Scarlet Division title Monday night, outlasting Jackson-Milton 10-8 in a high-scoring battle to improve to 16-6 on the season.

The Rams used a balanced offensive attack and timely pitching to secure the victory on the road, pulling away late in a game that featured 23 total hits and multiple lead changes. Sandy led the charge for Mineral Ridge, going 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs. Lily

Merolillo and Megan Haynie each added two hits and combined to drive in three more runs. Laney Rigley also contributed with a pair of hits, including a double, and scored twice. The Rams put together a four-run second inning to take control early and added five more runs across the fourth and fifth frames to stay ahead.

Mineral Ridge got 4 ⅔ innings from starter Lily Merolillo, who allowed seven hits and five earned runs while striking out four. Savannah Turek picked up the win in relief, throwing 2 ⅓ innings and giving up just one earned run while striking out three.

Jackson-Milton (10-8) matched the Rams hit-for-hit, tallying 13 total, but couldn’t hold Mineral Ridge off the scoreboard in key moments. Emma Johns was a standout for the Blue Jays, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Grace Johns and Katie Byers each had two hits, with Katie Byers driving in two. Brena Mcbeth, drove in two with a two-run shot in the fifth. McBeth also took the loss in the circle, surrendering 10 hits and 10 runs, seven of them earned, over seven innings. The Blue Jays chipped away with four runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth to tighten the contest, but the Rams’ defense held firm in the seventh to close it out.

With the win, Mineral Ridge locks up the MVAC Scarlet title outright, topping off a strong regular season and setting their sights on tournament play.

RIDGE DEFENSE PUSHES BLUE DEVILS BACK

MCDONALD OH-  Mineral Ridge handled business Monday, shutting out McDonald 4-0 behind a lights-out performance from Xavier Klamer and a fourth-inning surge that cracked the game open.

It was a pitcher’s duel early, but the Rams broke through in the fourth. A balk pushed in the first run, then Dom Balestrino laced a single to add another. AJ Sandy followed with a double that plated two more, giving Ridge all the cushion they’d need.

Klamer was filthy on the bump. The righty went the distance, tossing a one-hitter with seven strikeouts. He did battle control at times—walking seven—but McDonald couldn’t make him pay.

Sandy led the way with two RBIs, while Balestrino was steady from the eight-hole, going 2-for-3. Ridge was aggressive on the bases, swiping four bags and keeping McDonald on their heels.

Clean defense helped seal it, too—no errors on the day and a smooth double play turned to squash any comeback hopes. The Rams will look to keep the momentum rolling when they face McDonald again on Tuesday.

MORE HARDWARE FOR HULETT

MINERAL RIDGE OH-  Ava Hulett just keeps adding to her legend. At the Trumbull County Track & Field Meet, Hulett once again reminded everyone why she’s one of the most dominant athletes in the area. She walked away with Meet MVP and Running MVP — again. That’s her second time grabbing the top prize and her fifth time snagging the Running MVP. Five.

She dropped a meet-best 28 points, steamrolling the 100m and 300m hurdles with two golds, anchored a 4×400 squad to a silver with a season-best time, and still had enough gas to place third in the 200m dash.

Hulett isn’t just fast — she’s all-around nasty on the track. Hurdles, relays, sprints — she’s stacking hardware and breaking tape across the board. At this point, she’s not just racking up wins — she’s building a legacy that’ll be tough to top in Trumbull County history.

RAMS ON THE COMEBACK TRAIL

MINERAL RIDGE OH-  Mineral Ridge shook off an early mess and stormed back to take down Niles 10-6 on Thursday, flipping a five-run hole into a statement win.

Niles jumped out early thanks to five walks in the top of the first. Ridge starter Nick Anderson had trouble finding the zone, handing out eight free passes in just one inning of work. Niles made him pay, cashing in five quick runs without a hit.

But the Rams didn’t flinch. They punched back in the third, sparked by a two-run knock from Brody Molina and a bases-loaded walk from AJ Sandy that tied things up. From there, it was all Ridge.

The real game-changer came on the hill—Jack Gillie came out of the bullpen and shoved for six innings, allowing just four hits and one unearned run while striking out seven. He didn’t walk a single batter, slamming the brakes on the Dragons’ offense.

At the plate, Ridge racked up 10 hits. Jackson Geddes, Gavin Harding, and Sandy all had multi-hit days. Geddes, Molina, Andrew Gillie, and Ethan Vestorsky each knocked in a pair as the offense kept the pressure on.

Niles did their damage early and stayed patient all game, drawing eight walks. Brian Parsons Jr., AJ Yost, Brennen Hodge, and Brixton Gilmour all chipped in a hit, while five different Dragons drove in runs. But once the Ridge bullpen settled in, they couldn’t string anything together. Next up, the Rams hit the road to McDonald on Monday looking to stay hot.

EVANS AND HER DEFENSE TIE UP TOP OF MVAC

MCDONALD OH-  It was a pitcher’s duel Thursday night, but McDonald came out on top, blanking Mineral Ridge 3-0 behind a lights-out performance from Aubrey Evans.

Evans was in full control from the jump, mowing down 10 Rams and scattering just four hits over seven shutout innings. The righty didn’t flinch, walking three but never letting Ridge string anything together.

McDonald scratched a run across in the first thanks to a productive out from Sophia Pecchia. That early lead held up, but the Devils tacked on a couple more for insurance. Addison Grewell and Marissa Colarich each knocked in runs, and leadoff spark plug Miley Titus set the tone with two hits.

The Devils backed Evans with clean defense, turning a double play and keeping the stat sheet error-free. Grewell was busy at second, handling 10 chances like a vet.

Mineral Ridge got knocks from Savannah Turek, Laney Rigley, Maddie Gerberry, and Lily Merolillo, who also went four solid innings in the circle. Sullivan Sandy added a pair of swipes on the basepaths, but the Rams couldn’t crack Evans.

McDonald hits the road Friday to take on Hubbard, while Ridge gets a breather before heading to Jackson-Milton on Monday.

MINERAL RIDGE SURVIVES WILD ENDING

CAMPBELL OH-  Mineral Ridge looked like they had it wrapped up being up eight runs heading into the final frame—but Campbell Memorial made things real interesting before the Rams escaped with an 11-9 win on Wednesday.

The Rams built a steady lead throughout, using a mix of timely hits and Memorial miscues to go up 7-2 heading into the fifth. That inning saw Savannah Turek and Lily Merolillo both go yard with solo shots to give Ridge some breathing room.

In the seventh, they tacked on four more, with Sullivan Sandy knocking in a run and Maddie Gerberry launching a three-run bomb to center to make it 11-3.

Then things got dicey. Memorial refused to roll over, putting up six in the bottom half—fueled by a double, an RBI single, and a massive grand slam that cut it to just two runs. But Turek came in to stop the bleeding and lock it down before the comeback turned into a collapse.

Merolillo picked up the win in the circle, going five innings and giving up just three hits and two runs while fanning four. Ridge’s offense was rolling all night with 14 hits—Gerberry led the way with three RBIs, while seven different players had two hits each.

The Rams also swiped seven bags, turned a clean double play, and stayed aggressive from first pitch to final out.

Memorial’s bats woke up late, and one of their big hitters finished 2-for-4 with four RBIs—including that late slam—but the hole was just too deep. Next up, Mineral Ridge heads to McDonald on Thursday looking to keep the momentum alive.

RIDGE STRETCHES MVAC WIN STREAK TO THIRTEEN

MINERAL RIDGE OH- Mineral Ridge took care of business in a big way Tuesday, rolling past Jackson-Milton 12-2 in a six-inning statement win.

Jackson-Milton got on the board first with a double play that pushed a run across in the top of the first, but that lead didn’t last long.

The Rams came out swinging in the bottom half. Laney Rigley ripped a triple down the right field line, and Kourtni Kaminski followed with a rope to center for a double—each knock bringing in two runs and flipping the scoreboard fast.

Then came the bomb. In the second, Kelcee Dye stepped up and launched a three-run shot to left, opening things up even more.

Mineral Ridge kept the pressure on with a run in the third thanks to a clutch two-strike single from Megan Haynie, and they didn’t let up from there.

Savannah Turek went the distance in the circle, scattering 10 hits over six innings while allowing just two runs. She didn’t walk a batter and picked up four Ks. The Rams backed her up with sharp defense, turning two double plays and playing clean behind her.

At the dish, Dye led the way with three RBIs, going 2-for-3. Rigley was locked in, finishing with three hits. Lily Merolillo swiped three bags, and Ridge totaled six steals as a team.

Jackson-Milton put together 10 hits of their own but couldn’t cash in enough to hang around. Ivy and Brena McBeth each had two hits, and the team picked up a couple of steals, but the Rams were just too much.

Next up, Mineral Ridge hits the road to take on Campbell Memorial, while Jackson-Milton heads back home to host LaBrae.
