MINERAL RIDGE MOUNTS A COMEBACK

Mineral Ridge trailed by as many as four, but came back to top Jackson-Milton on Monday, 9-6. Jackson-Milton got on the board in the top of the first inning after Grace Johns singled, and Brena McBeth doubled, each scoring one run. An error, and a single by McBeth helped the Blue Jays extend their early lead in the third.  They then scored one run in the top of the sixth on a solo home run to left field by Alena Len.

Mineral Ridge flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs on five hits to take a 9-6 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Lily Merolillo that drove in two.

Savannah Turk earned the win for Mineral Ridge. The reliever gave up two hits and one run over three innings, striking out six and walking one. Macayla Thornhill took the loss for the Blue Jays. She went five innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on 12 hits, striking out two and walking two. Merolillo started in the circle for the Rams. She allowed six hits and five runs (three earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking one.

Mineral Ridge amassed 15 hits in the game. Aaliyah Wall provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the lineup with two runs batted in. She went 2-for-3 on the day. Megan Haynie, the Rams number nine hitter, led the team with three hits in three at-bats. Laney Rigley, Sydney Wyllie, Sullivan Sandy, and Maddie Gerberry each collected multiple hits. Turek stole two bases.

McBeth did a lot of damage in the Jays lineup, and led with two runs batted in. She went 2-for-3 on the day. McBeth and Ivy McBeth each collected two hits. Emma Johns stole two bases. Jackson-Milton turned one double play in the game.
