SALEM SECURES FIRST WIN

SALEM OH- What an evening in the circle for the freshman duo of Emilee “Fireball” Lewis & Morgane “Mo-Ice” Blaine. Together they combined on a 1 hitter with 16 ks. The 16 strikeouts in a game tie (Taylor Thorpe) for the second most in Salem Softball history behind Shannon Leininger’s 17 in 1996. Emilee Lewis struck out that the final six batters she faced as her dugout got louder with every pitch. Morgane struck our 6 of the 8 batters she faced.

Despite only 5 outs to make defensively, there were still some highlight reel plays. Chase Toy took a chopper up the middle, played it well for the 6-3 out. Channing Toy three out a runner leading off third in the first inning that kept a run off the scoreboard. Freshman Paige Menough saved extra bases on a running catch in right field.

For Lisbon Kamryn Perchutti had the lone hit. Kyrstin Reckner, Marah Housheolder, Abby Ammon & Emma Everett reached base.

The Quakes offense was paced by Chase Toy as she scored 4 runs on the evening. She went 2-3 with two walks. Her speed was on display as she swiped three bases giving her 14 on the season. She is now just 10 shy of tying the single season record (24 Reagan Meals) for stolen bases & 9 short of tying the career record held by Tara Mancuso 1991-1994.

Mack Zumbar had two hits including a double. Bella Brant had a clutch two out-two rbi single in the 1st inning & added another rbi hit later.
