SALEM SUSPENDS AVIATORS FLIGHTPLAN

ALLIANCE OH- The Quakers scoreless innings streak did come to an end Tuesday night in Alliance at 24 innings but it wasn’t because of poor pitching. Gavin Wilms followed up his no hit performance from last week with a 1 hit, 1 run, 10 strikeout performance against the Aviators to help get Salem its 8th straight victory.

It wasn’t easy for Wilms as he gave up 6 walks on the day and had 3 errors behind him but the big right hander made the pitches when he needed them and was able to go the distance to earn his 3rd EBC victory of the year.

Despite the cold temperatures, the Quaker offense stayed warm racking up 7 hits along with some loud outs on nice defensive plays by Alliance.

Jackson Johnson got the Quakers started with an RBI single in the third that scored Lance Bailey who reached base with a single of his own before stealing second base to get into scoring position for Johnson.

Wilms helped his own cause with 2 hits including a double to lead off the 6th inning that would eventually give the Quakers an insurance run and a 2 run lead when Wilms would be waved home on a Corey Riesen RBI single.

Darius Beck and Blaize Exline each added hits of their own and Exline added a steal to his total as well.

The Quakers are now 9-3 (4-3 in the EBC) and will host the Aviators at Ray Reasbeck field tomorrow with the first pitch scheduled for 5pm.
