SPARTANS EARN FIRST WIN IN TIGHT MATCH WITH POLAND

BOARDMAN OH- The Boardman Spartans volleyball team has been dealing with a few growing pains early in the 2021 season. There are a ton of new faces, and although they’ve battled with tough teams, they haven’t been able to pull out a win. That is, until Monday night when the Spartans came out top of a 5 set match with Poland. (17-25 25-20 22-25 25-19 15-13)

Jenna Olexa led the Spartans offense by grabbing 12 kills. She completed a double double by also getting 25 digs. Lanie Vennetti and Kamryn Duritza split the setting duties, Venetti finished with 17 assists, while Duritza had 16. Cami Goske was a force at the net on defense as she collected 5 blocks. Goske was also solid offensively swinging for 9 kills.

Boardman will get back to AAC play on Thursday as they travel to Howland. Poland will have to get right back on the horse, as they host Girard on Tuesday.
