SPARTANS LOCK DOWN A PAIR OF WINS

RICHFIELD OH- Boardman kept their winning streak alive with a stellar performance in a Saturday doubleheader, taking down both Normandy and Revere with style.

**Game 1 vs Normandy:**

Boardman’s bats were on fire right out of the gate. Tori Strines led the offensive charge, going 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Ava Freeborough and Maddie Wymer also had hot bats, each going 2 for 2 with multiple RBIs and runs scored. Alex Ward and Leah Habeger contributed as well, driving in runs and crossing the plate themselves. Kenzie Cherne chipped in with an RBI and a run scored, rounding out a potent offensive attack.

In the circle, Gabi Sferra was simply untouchable. She tossed five innings of one-hit ball, striking out eight Normandy batters and shutting down any hope of a comeback.

**Game 2 vs Revere:**

Boardman didn’t let up in the second game, continuing to put runs on the board against Revere. Addie Kowacich led the charge this time, going 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and showing great discipline with a walk. Mikayla Rivera and Tori Strines also had impressive performances at the plate, while Alex Ward and Maddie Wymer drove in crucial runs to keep the scoreboard ticking.

In the circle, Addie Kowacich continued Boardman’s pitching dominance, allowing only three hits and no earned runs over 5.1 innings. Despite not racking up as many strikeouts as Sferra, Kowacich kept Revere’s hitters off balance and gave her team a solid chance to secure the win.

CHAMPION’S DOMINANCE IN THE MVAC LEADS TO ANOTHER TITLE

WARREN OH- Champion Softball didn’t just win; they dominated their way to the MVAC championship, pulling off a sweet doubleheader sweep against Campbell. And when we say sweet, we mean a 13-0 spanking in both games.

**Game 1:**

The offense was hotter than a midsummer barbecue for Champion in the first game. Gabby Gradishar led the charge, going 3 for 3 with a homer, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs scored. Addie Warzala and Sam Strock also joined the dinger party, each slamming one out of the park and racking up some serious RBIs. But it wasn’t just about the long bombs; Bella Meyer, Zoey Palette, and Maddison Sylvester kept the hits coming, with RBIs and runs scored all around.

As if their offense wasn’t enough, Champion’s pitching was on lockdown. Gradishar tossed three innings of one-hit ball, striking out seven Red Devils and giving Campbell’s batters a tough time. Mileena Williams managed to sneak in Campbell’s only hit of the game, but that was pretty much all they got against Champion’s ace.

**Game 2:**

Champion wasn’t about to let up in the second game. Addie Warzala came back swinging, blasting two homers and driving in four runs, while Gradishar continued her hot streak, going 3 for 3 with another homer and three RBIs. Grace Hadley got in on the action too, knocking in three runs with a perfect hit and drawing a walk for good measure. Sylvester added another RBI to her tally, just to round things out.

But the real star of the show in game two was Sam Strock. She threw three perfect innings, not a single hit, not a single walk, just straight domination. The Red Devils couldn’t touch her, let alone get on base. It was a pitching performance for the ages and the cherry on top of Champion’s championship cake.

TIGERS SILENCE THE COLUMBIANA BATS

By Joe Eusebio

HOWLAND OH- The Columbiana Clippers took headed north to battle the Howland Tigers on Saturday afternoon and ran into a talented freshman pitcher who helped the Tigers defeat the Clippers, 5-0.

The pitcher, Brayden Kovarik took a perfect game into the fifth inning, retiring 13 Columbiana batters in a row before Max Conway hit a ground single through the hole and into left field.  Hunter Davanzo hit one to the same spot in the sixth and those were the only hits the Clipper bats could muster against Kovarik, who went seven innings, striking out nine and walking one.

Kovarik had a big day at the plate as well, with two singles and an RBI.  Brendan Ray & Dominic Santee also had two hits apiece with Santee contributing two RBIs for the Tigers.  Sully O’Donnell also had a single and two RBIs.

For Columbiana (14-10, 10-0 EOAC), Avery Young took the loss going six innings, allowing eight hits and five runs with one walk and no strikeouts.  The Clippers return to action at East Palestine on Monday when they will attempt to clinch the EOAC championship after securing at least a tie for the league crown after defeating United on Wednesday.  Howland (10-8 overall) will host Salem on Monday.
