MILLER CLUTCH AS LEPS WALK OFF LAKE

LOUISVILLE, OH – The Louisville Leopards clinched a dramatic 5-4 walk-off win over Lake in extra innings Thursday. The deadlock was broken in the eighth when Cole Miller ripped a double to drive in the winning run.

Miller kicked off the scoring in the first inning with an RBI double, setting the stage for a tightly contested game.

Lake squared things up in the second when Josh Sedmock’s line out brought home a run. They then took a 2-1 lead in the third, thanks to Noah Kubasky’s single.

Louisville pulled even in the fifth with some smart base running and a clutch single by Bryce Graziani.

Zach Root bagged the win after a solid five innings on the mound, yielding four runs on eight hits. Joe Woodin, pitching in relief for Lake, was saddled with the loss after allowing a couple of runs over more than three innings.

At the plate, Miller was a major force for the Leopards, driving in a total of two runs and going 2-for-4. Graziani matched Miller’s hit tally, while Jakeb Beard walked three times, showing off the Leopards’ patience at the plate.

BOARDMAN DEALT TOUGH BLOW TO END SEASON

MASSILLON, OH- The Massillon Jackson Polar Bears ended the Boardman Spartans season  9-0 on Thursday, sparked by a first-inning rally that netted five runs.

Right out of the gate, the Polar Bears capitalized on a Spartan error to grab their first run. The hits and RBIs kept rolling in, with #13 grounding out to bring in another run, Kyle Andrews smacking a two-RBI single, and Kyle Carey adding another RBI groundout to make it a five-run frame.

The scoring didn’t stop there, as Wyatt Fether lifted a sac fly in the third to push the lead to 6-0.

On the mound, Landon Thiel was dominant for the Polar Bears, pitching a near-flawless four innings with just one hit allowed, fanning two and issuing one walk to snag the win. Tyler Kirlik shouldered the loss for the Spartans, surrendering seven runs, four earned, over four innings while striking out three.

The Spartan offense was stifled, with Ben Herrmann managing their only hit of the day.

Andrews was a key performer for the Polar Bears, driving in three runs and anchoring the infield with the most defensive chances. The team’s leadoff hitter, Carter Mottice, was on fire, snagging three hits and swiping two bases, helping to keep the Polar Bears flawless in the field with zero errors on the day.

The Spartans season closes with a final record of 9-11.

TIGERS EYE THEIR SPOT IN DISTRICTS

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- Springfield clawed their way past Cornerstone Christian with a solid 6-1 win in Thursday’s Sectional Finals. Parker Dobson was nearly untouchable, allowing just one hit and one run across a full seven innings, even while handing out three free passes.

The Tigers pounced early, lighting up the scoreboard in the first inning. After some strategic moves and a groundout from Dobson, they notched two quick runs to set the tone.

They didn’t let up, tacking on another run in the third when Dobson ripped a single.

On the flip side, Matt Lindic shouldered the loss for Cornerstone Christian. He labored through five innings, giving up three runs, but only one was earned. He managed to strike out four but got a bit generous with four walks.

The Tigers’ bats were hot, with Cooper Ensley and Blake Jeffries each snagging two hits. Contributions came from all over the lineup: Dobson, Alec Fusco, Jack Plant, and Jeffries each knocked in a run. Kolten Ruark was the master of patience, working his way on base with four walks, showcasing Springfield’s keen eye at the plate. They kept it clean in the field, too, flawless without a single error, with Fusco handling the most chances.

For Cornerstone, Lindic pushed across their lone run, going 1-for-2 at the dish.

Springfield is now gearing up to face Dalton in the District Semifinals. The showdown’s set for Cene Park this Tuesday, with the first pitch slated for 5:00 PM.
