ANT MARCHES IN; LOUISVILLE MARCHES ON
CANTON, OH- “These guys have embraced the role of the underdog.” said Louisville Head Coach, Brian Warner on Thursday evening after his son, Anthony Warner shut down University School Preppers, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Louisville to a 3-0 victory, and a spot in the Division 2 Regional Finals.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Warner struck out ten, while Evan Shapiro sat down 11. It was the ‘never say die’ attitude of the Leopards that made the difference in the game.
Louisville got things moving in the first inning, when Connor Adelman singled on a 3-2 count, scoring JT Popick, who stole his way into scoring position after a leadoff single.
Warner earned the win for the Leps. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over seven innings, striking out ten.
Shapiro took the loss for University School. The righty surrendered three runs on six hits over six innings, striking out 11.
Louisville saw the ball well today, racking up six hits in the game. JT Popick and Adelman each collected multiple hits for Louisville. Adelman and Popick each collected two hits to lead the team. The Leopards looked more like Cheetahs as they tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Popick and Adelman led the way yet again.
Riley Penn led the Preppers with the only hit of the game.
Louisville will now be back to action on Friday night as they will play Chardon with a trip to Akron’s State Championship Series on the line.
