EAGLE WEAR PROVES TOO MUCH FOR WHITING

STRUTHERS, Ohio

Blow for blow went the Whiting Roll-Offs (0-4) and Eagle Wear (3-2) through their matchup tonight on Field 1 of beautiful Bob Cene Park.

Striking first was Eagle Wear in the bottom of the 1st inning. Eli Harpalani kept his hot start to the season going with a leadoff line drive single followed by a stolen base before a double by Teddy Ruffner would bring Harpalani around. The Eagle Wear catcher, Ruffner, would later come across to score on an error by the Whiting third baseman. Two more runs would come across before the inning was over.

While it’s easy to give up after going down early, Whiting did the exact opposite. The Roll-Offs responded to Eagle Wear’s 4 with a 5 spot of their own to start the 2nd inning of play.

A leadoff walk for Tim Lewis before a Tristan Clear basehit and a Jack Glies bunt single loaded the bases with no outs. Errors galore would then see each of the aforementioned baserunners come across to score. A pair of those who reached on an error also scored.

Eagle Wear wasted no time at all getting their runs back and then expanded on it. Working with 2 outs in the bottom half of the 2nd, Eagle Wear’s Harpalani and Carney both singled before a Teddy Ruffner double would bring them in to grab the lead.

Eagle Wear plated a single run in the 3rd when Cole Grable doubled to left center to start the inning before Steve Rohan would smoke a ball down the left field line to trade places with the man on 2nd.

Scoring would open back up in the 5th when Whiting got their top 3 hitters walked to load the bases before a throwing error would allow 1 to come across, then a bases loaded bloop single to left off the bat of Jack Glies would plate 2 and give Whiting the lead.

Much like they did back in the 2nd, Eagle Wear responded in the bottom half of a big Whiting frame with a crooked number. The bottom half of the 5th started with a double by, you guessed it, Teddy Ruffner. A base hit off the bat of Grablepaired with walks by Tre Junker, Jack Pawlowicz, and Steve Rohan would see Eagle Wear go out in front 12-8. Eagle Wear would score one more in the bottom of the 6th before the game was called due to the time limit, giving them a 13-8 victory.
