CHASING GREATNESS

It isn’t often that you associate greatness into a high school football team, but in Columbiana, there’s plenty to go around!

While the Clippers have not got off to the start they were hoping for, the eyes stay bright, and the goals remain the same.  Win every down.  This year the Clippers are once again a young team trying to find their flight path in mid-air.  However with players such as Chase Franken, and his teammates- Coach Spaite understands that greatness is just one whistle away.

We had a chance to catch up with Columbiana’s multi-sport standout and talk X’s and O’s, as well as a round of rapid-fire questioning you won’t want to miss.

This week’s Columbiana Player Profile is Chase Franken: CHASING GREATNESS

TIGERS TAME CLIPPERS

COLUMBIANA, OH- After a fairly competitive first half, the Springfield Tigers took total control in the third quarter to handily defeat the Columbiana Clippers 41-7 here Friday night.  The Tigers took momentum into the locker room after thwarting a Clipper drive in the end zone as they sought to make it a one-score game just before intermission.

Springfield roared through the third stanza with a dominant performance on both sides of the ball outscoring the Clips 20-0.  Brannon Brungard threw two touchdowns and ran for another while Luke Snyder rushed for two scores of his own. Garrett Walker had a touchdown receiving and rushing as well.  Evan Ohlin also caught a TD pass.

The lone highlight for the Clippers was a 78-yard strike from Jakob Cross to Chase Franken in the second quarter.

The Tigers (3-0) stay on the road to face Jackson-Milton next week, while Columbiana (0-3) opens Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play at undefeated Leetonia.
