EAST LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER WITH JOSH LUDWIG (EP 6)

A hard fought battle against Martins Ferry last week leaves East Liverpool looking to play catch up against Edison this week.  Coach Ludwig and the Big Blue Wrecking Crew has the kiln burning white hot in Potterland!  Playoffs are within reach, but the Potters have to finish strong!

Edison lines up on the other side of the paint this week, and the Potters look to continue their push toward Week 11.  Can the Potters slow down the running game of the Wildcats?

Our Tommy Pease sits down with Coach Lud in our sixth episode of East Liverpool Coach’s Corner!

RIGHT ON CUE

Sometimes it’s tough being the coach’s kid.   There’s a certain expectation that you must carry every practice, every down, every game.  However, for Crestview’s Gabe Cusick, he’s made a football career for himself under the radar.  In fact, there were times growing up he didn’t necessarily even want to play football.  However, there came a day where Gabe saw the benefits that his friends had by being part of something bigger than themselves, and what it meant to be Rebel.  What a great opportunity it was to play with his teammates, and for his father.

This year, Gabe is the Captain of the Rebel defense, and is the leading tackler through 6 weeks!  The Rebs (and dad) needed somebody to come in and make an impact in a hurry, and luckily for Crestview-they didn’t have to look far!

DETERMINATION IS RECIPE FOR COOK

After another obstacle faced last Friday against Southern Local, East Palestine finds themselves in unfamiliar territory.  One that has them in playoff mentality in week 7.

However, the good news for the Bulldogs is they continue to gain health along the way.  Especially in one of their key players, Colton Cook!

Cook suffered a broken collarbone earlier this year in a passing scrimmage that has held him out half the year, but Cook’s determination to get healthy, and get back on the field shows exactly the mentality the Dogs must have going into the final month of the regular season: one day at a time.

Our Tim Figley caught up with Colton Cook following practice, and gets inside the huddle for this week’s East Palestine Player Profile: DETERMINATION IS RECIPE FOR COOK

The Tribe took care of business on Friday night when they dethroned the Devils to advance to 5-1 on the year.  Coach Pearson continues to preach focus to the Indians who are determined to make this a historic year in Girard.

As the Indians gear up to battle with Brookfield, revenge is on the mind from a defeat by over 50 a few years ago.

Will the Tribe continue to roll?  Can they continue to stay locked in?

Find out all that and more as YSN’s Britt Taylor sits down with Pat Pearson in this week’s Girard Coach’s Corner

LISBON FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER WITH ALAN MIKOVICH (EP 6)

After a strong start for Lisbon, they’ve had a tough stretch, but look to be turning the corner.  The Devils will line up 3-3 to face the Toronto and continue to play against tough competition this week in what will surely be a battle.  It’s been a weird week for many teams in the valley, but Lisbon looks to build on the Spaghetti Bowl victory in Week 6!

With the same winning mentality in place, can the Blue Devils return to state championship glory?  We’ll know first with Tyler Hoffman leading the way with all the pointed questions to Coach Mikovich.

Prepare yourself for week 7, and more Devilish insight with Episode 6 of 2018 Lisbon Football Coach’s Corner!

IT’S PRIME TIME!

For most Juniors, being able to lead is still a trait that still eludes them.

For South Range Junior Anna Primavera- her leadership style is lead from within.  Dubbed “Prime Time” at YSN, Primavera has her “Team Comes First” attitude that has helped the Lady Raiders rise to some fantastic victories this year!

Our Anthony Hartwig sits down with Anna to discuss this year’s seniors, as well as how success has come so quickly for Prime Time.  Also- what’s with the chicken hat?

COACHING IS A SILVER LINING FOR MCCLOUD

When we mention nearly every week the tradition, respect, and legacy that families have at Cardinal Mooney, it’s not just smoke and mirrors.  This week for our Coach’s Corner, we focus on Brendan McCloud who is the Offensive Line Coach for the Cards.

Coach McCloud talks about growing up in the Cardinal Mooney family, watching the program all his life, and now the opportunity to coach with his good friend, PJ Fecko.  Twenty four years later, McCloud still roams the sidelines teaching the next generation of lineman the Mooney Way.

Many memories, many conversations all point to this great interview with YSN Steve Leslie, and Brendan McCloud as they talk about the tragedies and triumphs over the years at Cardinal Mooney.  This week’s Cardinal Mooney Coach’s Corner is: COACHING IS A SILVER LINING FOR MCCLOUD and is PROUDLY Sponsored by M.P. Vivo Heating and Air Conditioning.

HERE WE JORNIGAN

When opposing defenses look at tape on Cardinal Mooney, they see speed, they see power, they see talent, and then they see the mountain at left tackle who protects the quarterback’s blind side.  Mooney Senior, Kyle Jornigan, is quite simply a force.  Except with his superhuman stature, and freakish athletic ability- you’d need the National Guard called in order to get past this young man.

He’s the anchor of the offensive line, and his calm demeanor off the field and beast-like motor on it creates the perfect storm for the next level of football.  While he’s here though, he wants to help right the ship for the Cards and help Mooney return to their home in Week 11.

Our General Manager, Steve Leslie, caught up with Kyle in this week’s Cardinal Mooney Player Profile: HERE WE JORNIGAN
