SOUTH RANGE SOFTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH JEFF DEROSE

CANFIELD OH- After another trip to Firestone Stadium last season for South Range, they are locked in to start another season.  The trip to state was the program’s 3rd since 2016.  The Raiders have never missed a beat in pitching over the seasons, having a college level arm in the circle since 2010.  Now it’s a new generation’s turn to continue that tradition and keep this program in the right direction.  Although last year’s senior class was crucial to their tournament run, they still had plenty of young players step up in the biggest moments.  They’ll lean on that experience to guide the players that are stepping into bigger roles on the team.

Raiders head coach Jeff DeRose has had plenty to celebrate in his career at South Range, and he’s hoping this year just adds more.  He took time out his day to chat with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig about the upcoming season.  They discuss what it’ll take to get back to Firestone Stadium, what fans should expect in the circle, and much more. CANFIELD OH- South Range has been one of the most dominant softball programs over the last 12 seasons. They’ve only missed 4 regional tournaments in that stretch. Last season they added another district trophy to their case, and now they return a ton of the talent that got them there. If you thought you were done dealing with South Range, we have some bad news for you.  The Raiders look to make a run at their third state championship appearance since 2016.

Head coach Jeff DeRose has been a part of the program for this entire run. He returns for another year on the first base line coaching his Raiders to victory. He had the time to talk with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig to preview this softball season in South Range. Check out Episode 1 of Coach’s Corner with Jeff DeRose.

SOUTH RANGE SOFTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH JEFF DEROSE

CANFIELD OH- South Range is coming off their second trip to the state championship game in the last 5 seasons. Once again, the Raiders had to walk away with the runner up trophy. With seven pieces of that lineup returning however, things still look bright for the Raiders. Coach DeRose is using the 2017 season as a learning tool. That was the season after their last state runner up season, where they returned eight players on the roster. That year the Raiders lost in the district tournament. He hopes that this team understands the work it takes to get back. It will be one of the hardest schedules the Raiders have put together in some time, and it all starts March 28th at Jefferson.

Jeff DeRose was able to join YSN’s Running Point this week to talk about the outlook for the 2022 season. He talks with Anthony Hartwig, and Ty Bartell about all the pieces returning, the schedule they’ve put together, and much more. CANFIELD OH- South Range softball is off and running in 2021. The Raiders had high expectations coming into the season with seniors Bree Kohler, and Jillian Strecansky leading the charge. Not even Jeff DeRose could have expected the power the Raiders have brought to the start of the season. The team has already hit 5 HR by 5 different players. The lineup is as balanced as it has ever been and that is cause for optimism in the Range. The Raiders head to Myrtle Beach over spring break to get in some quality competition.

Coach DeRose took the time to call in to YSN’s Running Point this week to chat with Ron Potesta and Anthony Hartwig. They discuss the quick start from his offense, what he expects from his seniors, and much more. It has been a long time coming Raiders softball fans but we are back with Episode 1 of Coach’s Corner with Jeff DeRose.

HEADED HOME: SOUTH RANGE LADY RAIDERS SOFTBALL PREVIEW

CANFIELD, OH – Head coach, Jeff DeRose and the South Range Lady Raiders are looking to overcome the disappointment they experienced last season like everybody else did due to COVID taking away their season. However 2021 begins a new season and the Lady Raiders are excited to be back on the diamond and the staff is eager to once again be coaching softball.

Looking back, Coach DeRose expected big things last year and wanted to fight for the conference title. The good news for the South Range Lady Raiders is that the majority of the current players play or have played travel ball and played a ton of games in the summer. Coach DeRose wants to pick right up from there and start off on the right foot straight out of the gate. With not many girls coming back from last year there will be new starters in places. Young but travel experienced. Coach DeRose will look to get the most out of his young and talented team as we move closer to first pitch.

SOUTH RANGE SOFTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EPISODE 1) WITH JEFF DEROSE

CANFIELD OH- The South Range softball program was back on an upswing last season winning the district championship after two straight seasons of not making it to the title game. The win made it seem like the program was back to its former glory, being its 6th title in 10 years. COVID-19 has put a damper on the program’s momentum this spring, however, as now the season’s fate is up in the air. The Raiders join every program in the state in juggling ways to respond to the current situation. Coach Jeff DeRose has tons of experience at the helm, and there are not too many people more qualified to steady the Raiders ship through this storm.
