SOUTHERN STILL LOOKING GOOD

LISBON OH- Southern made sure they weren’t left in the back of the conversation when it comes to EOAC contenders.  Message delivered, and in dominant fashion. The Indians strolled into Lisbon and cooled off the Blue Devils with a 51-22 victory. Southern is now 4-0 on the season.

Lisbon fought back after an initial burst from Southern.  With the game tied up at 8-8, Ryan Exline pounded a touchdown in from the one to give the Indians a lead they would never surrender. Exline would later score another short yardage touchdown on the ground.

Both teams continue EOAC play on Friday as they Southern hosts Columbiana, and Lisbon hits the road to face Valley Christian.

DEVILS DO WHAT IT TAKES

LISBON, OH- Lisbon hosted Valley Christian Thursday night looking to get back in the win column and for their first conference win. The Blue Devils went on an offensive tear and swept the Eagles in 3. Lisbon took the first set 25-11, the second set 25-12, and the third set 25-16.

For the Blue Devils, Izzy Lannon had 15 points. Eliza Baker put up 10 points and 17 digs. Cami Freeland added 7 digs, and Maddie Marshalek had 6 kills. Stefanee Stacey contributed 19 assists for Lisbon.

Lisbon moves to 2-6 overall, and 1-5 in the EOAC. Valley Christian moves to 0-8 overall, and 0-6 in the EOAC. The Blue Devils will travel to Leetonia on Tuesday. The Eagles will also be back in action and travel to Columbiana.

TIGERS KEEP LISBON UNDER CONTROL

LISBON OH- The Wellsville volleyball team is out to prove the road to an EOAC crown still runs through Tiger town. Lisbon was on the receiving end of that message Thursday as the Tigers quickly dispatched the Blue Devils in straight sets 25-10, 25-17, 25-16.

Wellsville’s attack was led by Presley Stokes with 15 kills, 4 aces, 4 assists. Alana Amato filled the stat sheet with 7 kills, 5 blocks, and 3 aces. Belle Poppelriter set up the Tiger attack with 22 assists and contributed 5 aces. Aubri Ramsey was solid leading the Tigers defense with 12 digs.

Lisbon’s Izzy Lannon added 5 points, 8 digs while Madison Marriner posted 4 points and 11 digs. Eliza Baker was stellar defensively for the Blue Devils posting 14 digs.

Lisbon (1-2, 0-2) looks to right the ship on Tuesday as the host United. Wellsville (2-1, 2-0) continues on the road Tuesday as they travel to Valley Christian.

SOUTHERN WINS SECOND IN A ROW

SALINEVILLE OH- Southern Local welcomed EOAC rival Lisbon to town looking to grab their second victory in as many nights. The Indians made quick work of the Devils in straight sets 25-15, 25-11, 25-11 for their second straight win to start the season.

.Rylee Mellott led the way for Southern with 9 points, 5 aces, and 23 assists. Ashley Shroades added 12 kills, while Esther Forbes and Hannah Reynolds contributed 10 and 14 points respectively in victory.

Lisbon was led by Cami Freeland with 7 kills, and Madison Marriner adding 10 digs.

Southern looks to continue their winning ways at home Wednesday as they take on Valley Christian.  Lisbon will be back home Thursday as they look to get back on track vs Wellsville.

COLVIN TAKES CHARGE

LISBON, OH – Lisbon Blue Devils running back, Haiden Colvin, sat down with Rick Dailey for a one of a kind player profile this week. Haiden, a senior, will look to emerge as a big leader for this Lisbon team on both sides of the football.

Colvin talks with Rick about his memories throughout the years as a Blue Devil, his roles on this year’s squad, his overall love for the game of football, and some of the nerves associated going into his last first game of the season for him.

LISBON BLUE DEVILS FOOTBALL COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH MATT ALTOMARE

LISBON, OH – The Lisbon Blue Devils coming into a season with a lot of talent returning from last year’s squad that will be leaned on throughout the course of the season. Returning this year is a very experienced and exciting junior class led by quarterback Trevor Siefke and running back Austin Dailey.

YSN’s own, Rick Dailey, was able to sit down with Coach Altomare this week to get a season preview on the Blue Devils, what the roster is looking like this year with key pieces on all sides of the ball, what the schedule is all about for the Blue Devils, as well as, a week one preview as Lisbon will play host to the Bombers from Lisbon.

LISBON WITHSTANDS BOMBERS RAID

LISBON OH- Lisbon found ways to continue positive energy in 2022 with a season opening victory over Windham on Friday night. Ever aspect of the game was working for the Blue Devils as they ran away with a 40-25 win.

Lisbon’s offense was a machine on the day. They finished with 462 total yards of offense. 318 of those yards came on the ground, as Lisbon ran the ball 49 times. Haiden Colvin led that running attack by gaining 129 yards on 17 Carrie’s and a touchdown.  Trevor Siefke threw for 144 yards on a 9/13 day.  He threw one touchdown pass.  Austin Dailey scored three touchdowns.

A big highlight for Windham was a 82 yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Chase Eye.  Eye would also throw for a Bomber touchdown.

Lisbon moves on to Week 2 as they travel to Fairport Harbor. Windham will get ready for a Week 2 matchup with Rittman.

EAGLES LOOK COMFORTABLE IN THE POSTSEASON

STRUTHERS OH-

Freddy Bolchalk didn’t allow a single run as JFK defeated Lisbon 8-0 on Tuesday to advance to the district championship. Bolchalk allowed just two hits on his way to victory

JFK fired up the offense in the first inning, when Gavin Shrum singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

The Eagles scored three runs in the third inning. Their batters contributing to the big inning included Shrum, Jake Hettrick, and Michael Mauro, all driving in runs in the inning.

One bright spot for Lisbon was a single by Ryan Reckner in the fourth inning.

Bolchalk was credited with the victory for the Eagles. The righthander lasted seven innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out 11 and walking zero.

Daimen McCormick took the loss for the Blue Devils. The righty went five and two-thirds innings, allowing eight runs on nine hits, striking out four and walking zero.

JFK racked up ten hits on the day. Aidan Rossi, Shrum, and Caleb Hadley each racked up multiple hits. Rossi led with three hits in four at bats.

The Eagles advance to the district championship where they’ll meet up with Lake Center Christian.  First pitch from Cene Park is set for Thursday at 5:00.

LISBON REIGNS AS TOP DEVIL IN SECTIONALS

LISBON OH-  Western Reserve scored three runs in the first inning, but Lisbon still won 5-4 on Thursday in the sectional final. Western Reserve’s big inning was driven by a single by Parker Reed, a groundout by Jack Darney, and a fielder’s choice by Matthew Farelli.

Western Reserve got things moving in the first inning, when Darney grounded out, scoring one run.

The Blue Devils pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Gabe Platt induced Ryan Reckner to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored and Brayden Flory singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

Reckner took the win for Lisbon. Reckner allowed two hits and one run over six and two-thirds innings, striking out nine.

Platt took the loss for Western Reserve. The pitcher went three innings, allowing five runs on five hits and striking out six.

Daimen McCormick started the game for the Blue Devils. The pitcher went one-third of an inning, allowing three runs on one hit

Lisbon totaled six hits. McCormick and Flory all collected multiple hits. Flory and McCormick each collected two hits to lead. Lisbon didn’t commit a single error in the field. Flory had nine chances in the field, the most on the team.

Platt led Western Reserve with two hits in three at bats. Western Reserve was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Jake Buchmann made the most plays with ten.

Lisbon advances to the district semifinal to play Warren JFK. That game will take place at Cene Park on Tuesday and get started at 5:00.
