BADGER HANGS ON FOR THRILLING WIN IN LISBON

LISBON OH- Fresh off a big win over Jackson Milton on Tuesday, Badger came in to Friday with upset on their mind. They knew they’d have a height advantage, and tried to use as much as possible. However, Lisbon countered at every turn with their superior guard play. The two conflicting styles clashing turned into an instant classic. The Braves defense was actually the hero, getting a big stop while Lisbon had opportunities to tie the game. The Braves defensive stand let them hold on to their 46-44 win. Badger outscored Lisbon 17-8 in the fourth quarter.

Leading the Braves was Jack Lendak who had a monster game finishing with 25 points. Jaden Richards was also in double figures with 13 points for the Braves.

Lisbon was paced by Hunter Dailey who scored 21 points. Trevor Siefke added 15 points to the cause as well.

Badger wins the sectional championship and moves on to the district semifinal. They’ll square up with fourth seeded St Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday in Struthers. Tip off is set at 7:00.

TIGERS CLAW THEIR WAY INTO DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP

MINERAL RIDGE OH- Springfield went into Wednesdays district semifinal focused and ready to take care of business. This is the stage of a tournament where teams can stumble if they look too far ahead. Springfield had their complete vision on Lisbon, and nothing else. They took care of their business and rolled to a 61-23 win.

The Tigers were led by Jacey Mullen with 15 points on the night. Grace Venturella put in a good night as well in double figures with 12. Jameka Brungard was also in double figures with Springfield with 10.

Parker Henthorne never gave up for Lisbon and led the Blue Devils in their final game of the season with 7 points.

Springfield advances to the Mineral Ridge district championship on Saturday. They’ll square up with Maplewood, and tip is set for 7:00.

REBELS RIDE HOME WITH VICTORY

COLUMBIANA OH- Crestview was led by Junior James Best who scored 18 points before fouling out early in the 4th quarter and Freshman Jonathan Best came off the bench for an additional 10 points and proved too much for the Blue Devils on Friday night.  Junior Wyatt Miller (10), Junior Matt Lindsay (9), Junior Kirkland Miller (6), and Senior Anthony Cusick (5) contributed for the Rebels.

Senior recognition night for bowling, cheerleading and Boys Basketball.  Seniors Anthony Cusick, Jack Yerkey and Matthew Wollet ended their basketball season with a W over Columbiana County foe the David Anderson High school Blue Devils from Lisbon 58-50.

Although it was an evening highlighting the seniors, Sophomore Hunter Dailey led all scoring putting up 21 points for the Blue Devils.   Sophomore Trevor Siefke added 12 points, 10 of which came from the free throw line.  Sophomore Logan Stauffer (9) and Senior Hunter Sturgeon (8) contributed to the Blue Devils 50.

The future looks bright for the young Blue Devils squad as they wait to host the winner from Badger and Jackson-Milton next Friday night in tornament action!

LO AND BEHOLD: BELL LIVING HIS DREAM

BOWLING GREEN, OH- When Logan Bell was just a freshman at Lisbon’s David Anderson High School, you knew the potential was there for something special.  What we didn’t know at the time was just how special one young man from small-town America could be.

Years later we know that the Blue Devil Boomerang Ballplayer was just as valuable in and for his community as he was on the playing surface.  Logan continued a long-living legacy that began generations before he was even born of contributing to his community in all ways possible.  Involvement was in the lifeblood of his family’s DNA and continues to and through this day.

Logan could always be found somewhere on a roster through high school.  Football, basketball, and of course baseball were the ones he was involved in, but also being able to settle in the crowds and cheer from the seats for his friends and classmates letting them know their value- and his appreciation for their skills and talents as well.

That’s Logan.  Always there, forever positive, and a one-in-a-million man.

Nowadays, Logan finds himself living the dream he fought for so hard through those days at DAHS but sees his journey through a different lens.  One of which he’ll continue to bet on himself because others have as well.  Although he never seems to show the pressure of carrying those dreams with him, Logan plans for success and carries those very plans out the same way he does everything else- with a smile on his face.

We caught up with the Falcon flamethrower to discuss baseball, his family, and so much more.

LISBON ROCKS BULLDOGS

LISBON OH- Lisbon gathered yet another win in the EOAC Friday night. The Blue Devils led wire to wire as they cruised to a 69-29 win. Lisbon was up 44-14 at the half.

Leading the Blue Devils was Trevor Siefke who put in a phenomenal 28 points. Luke Kraft was also in double figures for Lisbon with 14. Hunter Dailey contributed 7 while Tate Wallen added 6.

Lisbon will head out of league on Thursday traveling to Malvern.
