CARDINAL MOONEY BOYS SOCCER COACH’S CORNER (EP 2) WITH MATT BRITTON

YOUNGSTOWN OH- After a year away from the OHSAA State bracket Cardinal Mooney is right back in to the final four.  After a 2-0 win over Beachwood the Cardinals have punched their second ticket to the state semifinals in three seasons. They were able to score 2 goals in 2 minutes during the second half to clinch the win. The Cardinals will play a familair foe in the state semifinals as they match up with Ottawa Hills on Wednesday at 7:00 at Perkins High School in Sandusky.

Cardinals head coach Matt Britton took the time to come on YSN’s Running Point this week to talk to Anthony Hartwig about the upcoming state matchup.  They talk about the Cardinals key to victory, their hard work in the classroom, and so much more. CARDINAL MOONEY BOYS SOCCER COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH MATT BRITTON

YOUNGSTOWN OH- Every season, no matter what the regular season record ends up being for Cardinal Mooney boys soccer, they are a threat to make a deep tournament run. They proved that last year when they took an 8-5-6 record into the tournament, yet still took the eventual state runner up Crestview to overtime in a 3-2 loss. Head coach Matt Britton hopes he can instill a hungry attitude into his players once again to try and get back to Columbus. They’re schedule will definitely expose them to the proper competition level.

Coach Britton was kind enough to join YSN’s Running Point this week to help us get a better look into his team. He talks with Ty Bartell, and Anthony Hartwig about his team’s tough schedule, what the team’s identity will be this season, and much more. YOUNGSTOWN OH- The soccer season has gotten into full swing in the area. No one is testing themselves more than the Cardinal Mooney boys team. Their schedule is a who’s who of soccer powerhouses in the state of Ohio. This week is no different as the Cardinals are gearing up to try and solve the puzzle that is Howland. The Tigers haven’t been scored upon yet this season, but Mooney would love to change that.

CARDINAL MOONEY BOYS SOCCER COACH’S CORNER (EP 1) WITH MATT BRITTON

YOUNGSTOWN OH- In 2020 the Mooney boys soccer team made a run all the way to the state championship game. They fell just short but still ended up with the state runner up title. There’s only one way to one up their 2020 performance, and that is to win the whole thing. They have some pieces to replace, that is certain. They lost their whole midfield from 2020. They still do return 6 starters, and will have plenty of leadership. Head coach Matt Britton is entering his third season at the helm, and has dramatically turned the program around. Mooney opens the season on August 23rd at Berea Midpark.

Coach Britton took the time out of his day to join Running Point this week. He talks with Anthony Hartwig, and Ty Bartell about turning the program around, the experience of getting to the state championship, and so much more.
