LOWELLVILLE ROCKS THE RAMS

LOWELLVILLE OH- In a hard-fought Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference showdown, the Lowellville Rockets hosted the Mineral Ridge Rams, emerging victorious with a final score of 38-21.

The opening quarter saw both teams engaging in a defensive standoff, resulting in a scoreless tie at the end of the period.

Lowellville was the first to break the silence, as their kicker, Mathew Lucido, expertly slotted a field goal through the uprights, granting the Rockets a 3-0 lead. The momentum continued for Lowellville as they executed a pivotal special teams play, blocking a punt. This turnover paved the way for an 8-yard touchdown pass by Michael Ballone, who connected over the middle on a critical 4th and goal.

Mineral Ridge, however, was quick to respond with a burst of offensive energy. Senior standout Ian Erb showcased his speed with an explosive 50-yard run down to the 5-yard line. Erb completed the drive with a touchdown run, bringing the score to 17-7.

Lowellville remained relentless, with Ballone at the helm. The Rockets’ quarterback unleashed a 29-yard touchdown pass to Mathew Lucido, extending their lead.

As the game progressed into the third quarter, Ian Erb continued to make his presence known. This time, he hauled in a 50-yard touchdown catch from junior quarterback Owen Shingledecker, narrowing the gap to 24-14.

Nevertheless, the Rockets were determined to secure the win. Ballone displayed his prowess once again, tossing two more touchdown passes, including one to senior Braylen Dabney. Heading into the fourth quarter, Lowellville held a commanding 38-14 advantage.

RAMS MAKE CRESTVIEW EARN IT

In a thrilling volleyball showdown, the undefeated Crestview team faced an intense challenge from Mineral Ridge but ultimately maintained their perfect record with a hard-fought victory in four sets. The final scores were 25-22, 22-25, 27-25, and 25-18, showcasing the relentless determination of both teams on the court. Notably, the second set marked the first time this season that Crestview had conceded a set to their opponents, making the match all the more exhilarating.

Crestview’s standout performers were instrumental in securing this remarkable win. Abbey Emch delivered an impressive performance with 22 kills, 5 blocks, and 7 digs, demonstrating her dominance at the net. Grace Auer displayed her versatility with a triple-double, contributing 20 kills, 23 assists, and 18 digs. Equally impressive was Lainy Auer, who also achieved a triple-double, tallying 13 kills, 21 assists, and 10 digs. Julia Blasko made her presence felt with 13 digs and 3 kills, rounding out Crestview’s formidable lineup.

Mineral Ridge, though narrowly falling short, showcased their talent and determination throughout the match. Faith Schneider had a standout performance with 25 kills and 15 digs, achieving a double-double and proving to be a formidable offensive force. Ava Hulett also achieved a double-double, recording 19 kills and 23 digs, showcasing her all-around skills. Samantha Aulet’s exceptional playmaking was evident with 55 assists, highlighting her role as a key facilitator for Mineral Ridge.

As both teams look ahead, they will soon return to conference play. Crestview is set to face Liberty in their next match, where they will aim to continue their undefeated streak. WEATHERSFIELD, OH – In a thrilling Friday night showdown, the Mineral Ridge Rams clashed with the Waterloo Vikings in a high-stakes football game that would go down in local history. The Rams came into the game with high hopes, and they didn’t disappoint their fans, eventually securing a resounding victory with a final score of 47-12.

The first quarter kicked off with a burst of energy as both teams were eager to establish their dominance on the field. It was the Vikings who drew first blood when Jayden Hakin bulldozed his way into the end zone with a powerful 1-yard touchdown run. However, the Rams’ defense came up big, blocking the extra point attempt, leaving the score at 6-0 in favor of Waterloo.

The Rams weren’t about to let their rivals take the lead for long. With just over two minutes remaining in the first quarter, Ian Erb, the Rams’ star running back, answered with his own 1-yard touchdown plunge. Landon Pal nailed the extra point, giving Mineral Ridge a 7-6 lead.

As the second quarter got underway, the Rams continued to build momentum. Ian Erb, displaying his incredible skill and speed, scored his second touchdown of the night with a dazzling 7-yard run. Landon Pal was once again precise with the extra point, extending their lead to 14-6.

Waterloo fought back valiantly, with Jayden Hakin connecting on a 25-yard touchdown pass to Matthew Ralston. However, the Vikings couldn’t convert the two-point attempt, leaving the score at 14-12 in favor of Mineral Ridge.

The Rams weren’t done yet. Just minutes before halftime, quarterback Owen Shingledecker unleashed a perfect 56-yard touchdown pass to Ian Erb, who showcased his versatility by contributing in the passing game as well. Landon Pal’s successful extra point put the Rams up 21-12.

In the third quarter, the Rams continued to pour it on. Ian Erb added to his incredible night with a third rushing touchdown, this time from 7 yards out, though the extra point attempt was unsuccessful, making the score 27-12.

The Rams weren’t content with their lead; they wanted to secure a decisive victory. In the late stages of the third quarter, Ian Erb struck again, this time with an 8-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion attempt failed, but Mineral Ridge extended their lead to 33-12.

With the game all but sealed, the Rams put the finishing touches on their dominating performance in the fourth quarter. Preston Holbrook found the end zone with a 2-yard touchdown run, and Landon Pal’s reliable leg added the extra point. The scoreboard read 40-12 in favor of the Rams.

Mineral Ridge’s Sammie Aulet played a pivotal role in orchestrating the offense, tallying an impressive 28 assists. Meanwhile, Faith Schneider was the offensive powerhouse, notching an impressive 17 kills, relentlessly attacking the opponent’s defense. Sheryaliz Bonita-Molina contributed with precise serving, earning three aces that kept the pressure on Western Reserve.

Western Reserve, known for their formidable squad, gave their all in this intense showdown. Alyvia Hughes led the charge with 13 kills, proving her prowess at the net. The Rams displayed their depth and skill throughout the match, with several key players making significant contributions.

Faith Schneider was undoubtedly a driving force, showcasing her prowess with an exceptional 32 digs and an impressive 23 kills, achieving a well-deserved double-double. Sammie Aulet orchestrated the team’s offense with precision, tallying 41 assists and adding 3 aces to her impressive stat line. Ava Hulett proved to be a versatile asset with 24 digs and 20 kills, further solidifying the team’s offensive firepower. Anastasia Busse showcased her blocking abilities with 3 blocks, adding a defensive edge to the Rams’ performance.

THE FLIGHT OF THE BLUE JAY; CONN NAILS GAME WINNER

NORTH JACKSON, OH- In an intense and closely contested high school football matchup, the Jackson Milton Blue Jays managed to secure a narrow 23-20 victory over the Mineral Ridge Rams.

The game was marked by several key moments: The first quarter saw both teams making long runs, with Mineral Ridge’s Jacob Russell and Ian Erb showcasing their skills. However, neither team managed to score, and the first quarter ended with a 0-0 tie.

In the second quarter, Jackson Milton broke the deadlock when Aiden Stanke rushed for a 7-yard touchdown, putting the Blue Jays on the board with a 7-0 lead after a successful PAT by Jaylon Soto.

Mineral Ridge quickly responded with a long pass to Brady Balestrino, setting up a 17-yard rushing touchdown by Ian Erb. A successful PAT by #1 Landon Pal tied the game at 7-7.

Jackson Milton turned the ball over on downs, allowing Mineral Ridge to capitalize with an 11-yard rushing touchdown by Ian Erb. However, the PAT was missed, leaving the score at 13-7 in favor of Mineral Ridge at halftime.

In the third quarter, Jackson Milton mounted a comeback, with Aiden Stanke scoring his second rushing touchdown, this time from 17 yards out. A successful PAT by Sam Conn gave the Blue Jays a 14-13 lead.

The fourth quarter continued to see a back-and-forth battle. Aiden Stanke added his third rushing touchdown, a 2-yard run, to extend Jackson Milton’s lead to 20-13. However, the two-point conversion attempt failed.

Mineral Ridge fought back with another 2-yard rushing touchdown by Ian Erb, tying the game at 20-20 after a successful PAT by Landon Pal.

The game was ultimately decided in the closing moments of the fourth quarter when Jackson Milton’s Sam Conn kicked a 20-yard field goal, giving the Blue Jays a narrow 23-20 lead.

With no time left on the clock, Jackson Milton emerged as the victors in this closely contested battle, securing the 23-20 win- and staying undefeated on the year.

GIRARD TRIUMPHS IN BATTLE WITH THE RAMS

GIRARD OH- In a hard-fought volleyball clash, Girard displayed unwavering determination as they clinched a challenging sweep over Mineral Ridge, ultimately prevailing with scores of 25-17, 25-22, and 25-22. The match was a testament to Girard’s resilience and their ability to rise to the occasion when faced with adversity.

Leading the offensive charge for Girard was none other than the formidable Bree Latell, who delivered an impressive 17 kills, proving her mettle as a dominant force at the net. Nico Cochran was equally instrumental with 12 crucial kills, providing valuable support to the team’s offensive efforts.

Bailey Walters, the team’s setter, orchestrated the offense with precision, accumulating an impressive 34 assists, ensuring her teammates had ample opportunities to shine. Cochran and Walters also contributed from the service line, each securing 2 aces, and Cochran impressively recorded 11 service points.

RAMS NEVER SAY STOP

MINERAL RIDGE OH- Mineral Ridge showcased their dominance in Week 3 with a commanding 42-6 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas. The Mineral Ridge offense fired on all cylinders, with Owen Shingledecker efficiently leading the passing game, completing 6 out of 9 attempts for 73 yards and one touchdown. Shingledecker connected with Brady Balestrino for a touchdown, who amassed an impressive 57 receiving yards on 4 receptions. Ian Erb also contributed with 11 receiving yards.

On the ground, Mineral Ridge exhibited a balanced rushing attack, led by Ian Erb with 107 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. Jacob Russell found the end zone twice, accumulating 60 rushing yards on 6 carries. Bryce Rohrman added 36 rushing yards on 3 carries, while Brady Balestrino and Owen Shingledecker contributed with 34 and 20 rushing yards, respectively. Shingledecker also recorded a rushing touchdown. Christian Dunlap rounded out the rushing stats with 13 yards on 3 carries.

MINERAL RIDGE OH- Mineral Ridge delivered a commanding performance in conference play, sweeping Sebring in three decisive sets with scores of 25-13, 25-11, and 25-3.

The Mineral Ridge team exhibited remarkable skill and teamwork on the court. Faith Schneider emerged as the star of the match, securing a double-double with an impressive 17 kills and 12 digs, along with a crucial block. Ava Hulett made significant contributions with 6 kills, 2 aces, and a solid 17 digs. Gianna Wilson and Anastasia Busse each added 5 kills to the offensive firepower. Samantha Aulet orchestrated the offense brilliantly, accumulating 33 assists while also recording 8 digs and 2 aces.

With this dominant win, Mineral Ridge remains focused on conference play, looking ahead to their Tuesday matchup against Lowellville. This victory not only showcased their strength in the conference but also emphasized their commitment to excellence on the volleyball court.

SOUTHERN BAGS A TRI MATCH VICTORY

LAKE MILTON OH- The Southern Local Girls Golf Team traveled to Lake Milton Wednesday looking for mid season tri match victory. The Indians came through with that victory over Mineral Ridge and Lowellville on a blustery cool day at Olde Dutch Mill. Southern-(221) was led by Kenedy Lewis who posted a day’s best 44. Paige Riggs 54, Rylee Digman, 60 and Cate Brewer 64 all contributed to the win for the Indians.

Mineral Ridge recorded a team score of 232 on the day. Aubree Brunton carded a 53, while a trio of freshman Alayna Valley 55, Savannah Turek 60 and Issy Showalter 64 rounded out the scoring for the Rams.

Gianna Clemente 62 and Joclyn DelSignore 67 lead the way for Lowellville who finished with a score of 272 as a team.
