RAMS STILL RUNNING UNBEATEN

Mineral Ridge continued their undefeated streak with yet another dominant performance, this time overpowering Liberty with a resounding 54-20 victory.

The Rams showcased their offensive prowess, led by Ava Hulett, who delivered an impressive 20-point performance. Gianna Gilbert contributed 11 points, and Sullivan Sandy added 7 points to the team’s tally. The well-rounded effort also featured valuable contributions from Kelcee Dye with 5 points, Lily Merolillo and Sam Aulet with 4 points each, and Norah Schneider chipping in with 3 points.

The Lady Rams’ cohesive play and offensive efficiency proved too much for Liberty. Their next challenge awaits as they gear up to face Sebring this Thursday at Sebring.

THE WIN IS WORTH THE TRIP FOR MINERAL RIDGE

PEPPER PIKE OH- Mineral Ridge embarked on a lengthy road trip to Orange on Saturday, turning it into a worthwhile journey with a convincing 64-46 victory.

The Rams showcased a balanced offensive effort, led by Ava Hulett with 17 points, Gianna Gilbert contributing 15 points, and Lily Merolillo adding 7 points. The team’s depth was evident with additional contributions from Kelcee Dye and Sullivan Sandy, each contributing 6 points. Sam Aulet chipped in with 5 points, while Ava Carkido and Norah Schneider each added 4 points to secure the Rams’ triumph.

This well-rounded performance highlighted Mineral Ridge’s strength and cohesion as they secured a decisive win on the road.

RAMS DEFENSE GETS THEM THROUGH

GIRARD OH- In a hard-fought defensive battle, Mineral Ridge showcased their resilience on the road, securing a 38-33 victory over Girard. The Rams’ success was attributed to stellar team rebounding and a formidable defense, earning them their second win of the season.

Leading the charge for the Lady Rams was Gianna Gilbert, contributing a game-high 15 points, followed by Ava Hulett with 10 points. The victory saw additional contributions from Sullivan Sandy with 5 points, Sam Aulet with 3 points, Kelcee Dye with 3 points, and Lily Merolillo with 2 points.

Girard’s offensive efforts were led by Mia Malito with 13 points, supported by Caylee Wilkes with 8 points and Ally Gassman with 5 points.

Mineral Ridge’s collective team effort and defensive prowess were instrumental in overcoming Girard on their home court. Looking ahead, the Lady Rams will continue their season with a game at Orange this Saturday. Girard, on the other hand, will return to action on Monday as they host Crestview, aiming to rebound from the closely contested matchup.

RAMS BUST THROUGH THE GATES

Mineral Ridge kicked off their upcoming season on a positive note, securing a convincing 60-26 victory over Mathews. The Rams showcased a well-rounded offensive effort led by standout performances.

Ava Hulett led the scoring charge with an impressive 19 points, complemented by Sullivan Sandy with 12 points and Gianna Gilbert contributing 10 points. The victory saw additional contributions from Sam Aulet, Lily Merolillo, Norah Schneider, Ava Carkido, and Kelcee Dye, all playing vital roles in the team’s success.

Mineral Ridge’s comprehensive win sets a positive tone for the early part of the season, and the team will carry this momentum into their next challenge. Up next, the Lady Rams will hit the road to face Girard on Thursday, eager to build on their strong start and continue their success on the basketball court.

MINERAL RIDGE OH- Coming off one of the best football seasons their school has ever had, Mineral Ridge is looking to carry that momentum in the boys basketball season.  They have a handful of important returners that will make them a scary team for anyone trying to make waves in the MVAC.  You can’t sleep on a hungry Ram, and this team is starving for wins.

RIDGE GETS ELIMINATED BY MOGADORE

SALEM OH- In a hard-fought battle in the Regional Semifinals, Mineral Ridge displayed a valiant effort but ultimately fell short against Mogadore, concluding with a final score of 21-7.

The first quarter saw Mogadore taking the lead as QB Zeke Cameron handed off to RB Aaron Rumschlag for a 2-yard TD with 1:28 remaining. Austine Constantine’s successful extra point extended Mogadore’s early advantage to 7-0.

Mineral Ridge responded in the second quarter, showcasing their offensive prowess. QB Owen Shingledecker connected with RB Ian Erb for a 19-yard TD at 10:33, and Landon Pal’s accurate extra point leveled the score at 7-7. However, Mogadore quickly answered with QB Zeke Cameron finding Devin Graham for a 52-yard TD pass at 2:14. Despite a missed extra point, Mogadore regained the lead, heading into halftime with a score of 13-7.

The third quarter remained scoreless, setting the stage for a decisive fourth quarter. Mogadore sealed the victory with QB Zeke Cameron executing a 1-yard TD run at 1:30. A successful 2-point conversion, with Cameron connecting to Layne Miller, extended Mogadore’s lead to 21-7.

Despite Mineral Ridge’s resilience, the final whistle blew with Mogadore emerging victorious with a final score of 21-7 in the Regional Semifinals. Mineral Ridge demonstrated determination and fought hard throughout the game, showcasing the spirit of competition in a challenging contest.

RAMS ARE STILL RUNNING ALONG

ROOTSTOWN OH- In a thrilling playoff clash, Mineral Ridge continued their impressive postseason run with a hard-fought 17-9 win over Rootstown, marking their second road victory in the playoffs.

The Rams’ offense was led by quarterback Owen Shingledecker, who amassed 78 passing yards. He wasted no time putting Mineral Ridge on the scoreboard with a 23-yard touchdown pass to Ethan Pemberton in the first quarter, setting the tone for the game.

Brady Balestrino played a pivotal role in the Rams’ passing game, making five receptions for 26 yards, showcasing his reliability as a receiver.

On the ground, Jacob Russell led the way for Mineral Ridge, racking up 64 rushing yards, while Ian Erb added another 52 yards, keeping the offense moving and putting pressure on the Rootstown defense.

The Mineral Ridge defense was the true star of the night, flying all over the field and holding Rootstown to a mere 9 points. Their relentless efforts resulted in three turnovers that proved to be crucial. Kaiden McCune and Julian Rozzi each had an interception, further cementing the Rams’ dominance on the defensive end. Rozzi not only had an interception but also forced and recovered a fumble, which he returned for a game-changing touchdown.

With this impressive win, Mineral Ridge’s playoff journey continues, and their next challenge awaits. They will face off against Mogadore in the next round of the playoffs. The game is set for Friday at 7:00, at a neutral site yet to be announced at the time of this writing. Mineral Ridge’s fans eagerly anticipate the next chapter in this exciting playoff run, as the Rams aim to build on their successes and make their mark on the postseason.

RAMS BREAK LOOSE ON JACKSON MILTON

NORTH JACKSON OH- Mineral Ridge kicked off their playoff campaign with a resounding victory on the road, defeating the Jackson Milton Blue Jays with a commanding score of 35-6.

Owen Shingledecker led the charge as the Rams’ primary passer, amassing a total of 84 yards through the air and connecting for a crucial touchdown. Shingledecker’s precision in the passing game proved pivotal for his team. Receivers Brady Balestrino and Ian Erb both contributed 42 yards, with Erb showcasing his hands with a touchdown reception.

However, Ian Erb was not content with just his receiving performance; he also spearheaded the Rams’ ground attack with an impressive 97 rushing yards and a remarkable three touchdowns. Jacob Russell joined the scoring effort on the ground with another touchdown, highlighting the Rams’ offensive versatility.

The Ram defense emerged as a standout unit, displaying both speed and physicality throughout all four quarters. Their control of the game was evident, ensuring that the Blue Jays struggled to gain any significant momentum.

With this convincing win, the Rams now look ahead to their next playoff challenge. RAMS RUMBLE ON TO TITLE GAME

ORWELL OH- In a stunning display of dominance, Mineral Ridge secured their spot in the district championship with an emphatic three-set sweep of Columbiana. The final scores were 25-16, 25-6, and 25-13, leaving no doubt about their superiority on the volleyball court.

Ava Hulett was nothing short of spectacular for Mineral Ridge, delivering an outstanding performance with 17 kills, 11 digs, 3 aces, and 3 blocks, earning herself a well-deserved double-double. She showcased her prowess in both offensive and defensive aspects of the game.

Faith Schneider also had a remarkable evening, contributing 16 kills, 13 digs, 4 aces, and 2 blocks, securing her double-double as well. Notably, this match marked a milestone in her career, as she reached an impressive 1,000 career digs.

Setting the stage for these incredible performances was Samantha Aulet, who dished out 42 assists, showcasing her incredible playmaking abilities. She also chipped in with 9 digs and 1 ace, proving her all-around talent.

Defensively, Sheryaliz Bonilla was rock-solid for Mineral Ridge, tallying 17 digs to ensure that Columbiana’s attacks were met with strong resistance.

On the opposing side, Ellie Jackson led Columbiana with 5 kills, 9 assists, and 3 digs. Kelsey Cameron added 3 kills to their tally, and Ava Heinrich worked tirelessly, amassing 11 digs.

With this resounding victory, Mineral Ridge now gears up for the district championship game, where they will face the formidable first-seeded Mentor Lake Catholic. The showdown is set to take place on Saturday at 7:00 at Grand Valley High School.

FAITH CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS

MINERAL RIDGE OH- Faith Schneider, the senior outside hitter for Mineral Ridge, is undoubtedly a player of exceptional caliber. She’s the kind of hitter that many teams can only dream of having. Not only can Faith deliver powerful kills on offense, but she does so with remarkable efficiency. Her contributions, however, extend far beyond her offensive prowess. Faith is a standout on defense and serves as a beacon of emotional leadership on the court for the Rams.

Faith’s high-energy style of play and her role as the team’s “hype man” have been constants in her journey. As a senior, what has changed is the mantle of leadership she carries, inspiring the next generation of Ram stars. She is a true role model, embodying the essence of playing the game the right way, and she does so with boundless passion and energy.

One key partnership that defines Faith’s impact is her connection with fellow senior Samantha Aulet, who serves as the team’s setter. Their synchronization is a pivotal reason why the Rams’ offense operates so smoothly. The fact that Faith has another fantastic outside hitter, Ava Hulett, as a teammate only adds to the team’s offensive prowess. The friendly competition between Faith and Ava fuels them both to consistently be at their best.

Faith’s statistics in 2023 speak volumes about her prowess on the court: 353 kills, a .385 hitting percentage, 4.6 kills per set, 56 aces, 354 digs, and 26 blocks. Her numbers reflect her all-around excellence as a volleyball player.

As Faith Schneider looks to the future, there’s no doubt that she will achieve success in everything she sets her mind to. While the Rams will certainly miss her presence on the court once she graduates, her legacy of leadership will continue to resonate for years to come, leaving an indelible mark on the Mineral Ridge program. Faith’s passion and dedication to the game will serve as an enduring source of inspiration for her teammates and future Ram athletes.
