POLAND GETS VICTORY IN STRAIGHT SETS

Poland, OH- The Bulldogs swept the United Eagles in a non-conference match on Monday night. The leading attacker on the season Sarah Forsyth led the way with 14 kills. For the Eagles, Grace Knight had 7 kills and 7 digs to lead the team.

The Bulldogs served the volleyball well, with Madelyn Ray recording 12 service points. They also put together some great defensive plays, with Sophia D’Angelo having 10 digs. At the net, Katie McDonald had 5 blocks for the Bulldogs.

Set Results:

Set 1:  25-16 Poland
Set 2: 25-23 Poland
Set 3: 25-11  Poland

The Bulldogs are now 8-3 and will play at Jefferson tomorrow night. The Eagles are now 6-7, and will host East Palestine in Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference play tomorrow at 7 P.M.

 

POLAND PICKS UP BIG VICTORY ON HOME FLOOR

POLAND, OH- The Poland Bulldogs hosted the Boardman Spartans in a non-conference volleyball match up on Monday night. The match was highly contested all the way through, but the Bulldogs won 3 consecutive sets to take the match. Boardman took set 1 in a close one, but the Bulldogs rallied back in set 2 to win it and build that momentum on their home floor. Poland would then rattle off two more wins in a row to take the Spartans in 4 sets.

Poland was led by there leading pin hitter Sarah Forsyth who had 14 kills and 11 serving points. Behind her was Olivia Minehart and Sophia D’Angelo who both contributed 6 kills. The Spartans we’re led by Cami Goske and Gia Triveri who had 17 combined kills in the match.

Set 2: 25-22 Poland

Set 3: 25-17 Poland

Set 4: 25-17 Poland

The Bulldogs are back in action tomorrow night as they take on NE8 conference foe, the Niles Red Dragons. Boardman gets two days off before traveling to Howland on Thursday night.

BULLDOGS WIN SETS UP PIVOTAL BATTLE

POLAND OH The Poland Lady Bulldogs improved to 15-6 on the season with an 11-1 win over the Girard Indians today in Northeast 8 Conference play.  Poland’s conference record improves to 9-2 and sets the stage for a big conference game against South Range tomorrow at home.

Katie McDonald picked up her 15th win of the season on the mound allowing only 2 hits and six strikeouts.  McDonald added a single and RBI to help her cause at the plate.  Poland’s offense was led by senior third baseman Emily Denney who added 2 hits and an RBI along with senior second baseman Abby Farber who had two hits including a double with the bases loaded collecting 3 RBI’s.  Meredith Trevis doubled adding 2 RBI’s and sophomore shortstop Mary Brant added a solo homerun and two walks to help Poland.
For Girard, Alyssa Wakefield and Sidnee Rice had the only two hits while Emily Rosace took the mound loss.
