FORSYTH CROWNED BIG DOG OF THE VALLEY IN WEEK EIGHT

POLAND, OH- Senior outside hitter Sarah Forsyth has taken home the week eight Big Dog of the Valley after her performances in the last week of the regular season. Forsyth has led the Bulldogs on the outside all season long, compiling a team high 181 kills in her senior campaign. Not only has she hit the ball well this season, but she has also been involved as the teams second setter, adding 154 assists to her stat sheet.

Forsyth was a huge piece to the Bulldogs last two wins to close out the regular season. She had a team high 13 kills in the 3-1 win over Springfield on October 3rd, along with adding another 10 kills in the win over Niles to end the regular season on October 6th. The Bulldogs look to lean on senior Sarah Forsyth in the first round of the playoffs tomorrow against Cardinal Mooney. First serve is scheduled for 6 P.M. POLAND SNAPS SPRINGFIELD’S 5 MATCH STREAK

POLAND, OH- In a battle of schools separated by just nine minutes, it was Poland who was able to defend their home court over rival Springfield, taking down the Tigers in 4 sets.

Poland came out very strong in each set, and utilized outside hitters Sophia D’Angelo and Sarah Forsyth very effectively as they each had many strong attacks down the lines for the Bulldogs. Poland snaps a 5-match losing skid with tonight’s victory, moving to 9-8 on the season. Springfield on the other hand, has a 5-match winning-streak snapped, as they fall to 10-8 on the season.

 

PLAYERS OF THE MATCH:

Offensively, the Bulldogs were led by Sarah Forsyth, who led Poland with 12 kills and 6 aces. Katie McDonald was a very tall task for Springfield to overcome at the net all night, as she executed a team-high 7 blocks.Hear from Poland Head Coach Aleah Diamond after the victory:

CARDS STAY ROLLING WITH A SWEEP OVER 224 RIVAL

POLAND, OH- The Canfield volleyball team continued its winning ways with a sweep in the battle of 224 over rival Poland. Canfield has now won 4 consecutive matches, and has won 12 sets in a row. The Cardinals took advantage in the rivalry game, as tonight will be the only match-up between Canfield and Poland this season.

The Cardinals were led by Isabella Bucciarelli who had 10 kills in the match. Middle Blocker Abby Muckleroy was a problem for Poland, blocking 7 balls throughout the 3 sets. Defensively, libero Parker Wilkins contributed 12 digs to lead the team.

For Poland, Sophia D’Angelo had 6 service points, while Madelyn Ray had 9 digs to lead the Bulldogs. Canfield has a tough test on Thursday, looking for revenge at Austintown Fitch. The Bulldogs will travel to Girard tomorrow, before facing Lakeview on Thursday.
