POTTERS SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE AGAINST MEADOWBROOK

BYESVILLE, OH- East Liverpool fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 10-0 loss to Meadowbrook on Tuesday. Meadowbrook scored on a single by Peyton Neff and a single by CJ Moore in the first inning and never looked back.

The Potters struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Meadowbrook, giving up ten runs in just four frames.  In the first inning, Meadowbrook got their offense started. Meadowbrook scored one run when Neff singled.

A single by Kamren Klakos in the first inning was a positive for East Liverpool Potter Varsity.  Senior, Cory Weyand went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead East Liverpool in hits.

Logan Fox took the win for Meadowbrook. He lasted five innings, allowing four hits and zero runs while striking out seven and walking zero.

Derek Klein took the loss for East Liverpool He allowed nine hits and nine runs over three innings.

Meadowbrook scattered ten hits in the game. NeffMoore, and Boston Black each managed multiple hits for Meadowbrook. Neff led Meadowbrook with three hits in three at-bats. Meadowbrook was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Garrett Clendenning had the most chances in the field with seven.

WELLSVILLE WINS BATTLE OF THE RIVER, DOUBLE UP POTTERS

WELLSVILLE, OH- Even though Wellsville gave up four runs in the fifth inning, they still defeated East Liverpool Potter Varsity 8-4 on Wednesday. Kamren KlakosPaxton GrimesLogan Bennett, and Dylan Czech each drove in runs during the inning.

The Tigers got things moving in the first inning, when Justin Thirtyacre singled on a full count, scoring two runs.  Wellsville then put up five runs in the second inning. Connor RamseySeth KernerJonathan Walker, and Brandon Tate each had RBIs in the frame.

Thirtyacre toed the rubber for Wellsville. He went seven innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and striking out nine.

Bennett was on the hill for East Liverpool Potter Varsity. He went one and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on four hits, striking out three and walking one. Klakos threw four and a third innings out of the bullpen.

Kerner led Wellsville Tigers Varsity with two hits in four at-bats.

Cory Weyand went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead East Liverpool Potter Varsity in hits.

POTTERS CANT CATCH UP TO BELLAIRE

East Liverpool watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 3-0 loss to Bellaire on Wednesday.  Bellaire took the lead on a single in the first inning.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Bellaire pitchers struck out 17, while East Liverpool sat down seven

Bellaire opened up scoring in the first inning, when Porter singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

One bright spot for East Liverpool was a single by Devin Toothman in the second inning.

Porter pitched Bellaire to victory. He went seven innings, allowing zero runs on four hits, striking out 17 and walking zero.

Logan Bennett took the loss for East Liverpool. He surrendered three runs on nine hits over six innings, striking out seven.

Toothman led the Potters with two hits in three at bats.

Bellaire totaled nine hits.  Porter and Rejonis each racked up multiple hits for Bellaire.  Porter went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Bellaire in hits.  Bellaire was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Roth made the most plays with  17.

OAK GLEN BLANKS POTTERS

NEW CUMBERLAND, WV- East Liverpool watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 8-0 loss to Oak Glen on Monday. Oak Glen scored on a sacrifice fly by Almo and a single by Patterson in the second inning.

Oak Glen opened up scoring in the second inning. Almo‘s sac fly scored one run for Oak Glen.

One bright spot for the Potters was a single by Paxton Grimes in the first inning.

Brewer got the win for Oak Glen. He surrendered zero runs on two hits over seven innings, striking out 15 and walking zero.

Dylan Czech took the loss for East Liverpool. He surrendered three runs on four hits over three innings.  Grimes and Cory Weyand all had one hit to lead East Liverpool.

Oak Glen totaled six hits. Patterson and Dailey all had multiple hits for Oak Glen. Oak Glen didn’t commit a single error in the field. Kerr had the most chances in the field with 13.

BRUINS BOP POTTERS ON SENIOR NIGHT

EAST LIVERPOOL, OH- East Liverpool watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 13-1 loss to Brooke on Tuesday. Brooke scored on a single by Garrett in the first inning.

The Potters struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Brooke, giving up 13 runs.

Brooke scored seven runs in the fourth inning. ThompsonJezierskiBilliardBates, and Langley all drove in runs in the frame. Bailey earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Brooke. He allowed two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out five. Jezierski threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Kamren Klakos took the loss for East Liverpool.  He lasted three innings, allowing nine hits and six runs while striking out two and walking one. Cory WeyandCaleb Learn, and Blaize Davis each collected one hit to lead the Potters.

Brooke racked up 15 hits on the day. LangleyShortsLillyJezierskiThompson, and Bates all managed multiple hits for Brooke. Langley led Brooke with three hits in three at-bats.

FRANKEN HAS CAREER DAY, CLIPPERS FLY HIGH AGAINST LIVERPOOL

COLUMBIANA, OH- Chase Franken hit his first home run of the year and knocked in six runs helping Columbiana (6-6) defeat East Liverpool 8-3 Thursday afternoon.  Franken hit a 3 run home run in the second inning to give the Clippers the lead for good.  Franken also added a triple and a double on the day.

Also having good days for Columbiana at the plate were Wayne Davis who had a two-run single in the fifth inning and Michael Ginocchi who was 1-1 with two walks and scored three runs.  Brady Dixon doubled in the first inning for the Clippers.

On the mound, Dixon picked up his first win of the year going four strong innings allowing only 1 hit while striking out 3.  Franken would follow pitching two scoreless innings and striking out five.  Matt Mazei would close out the game allowing 3 runs (0 earned) while also striking out 2.

Columbiana will be back in action Saturday as the Hubbard Eagles come to town.  First pitch is planned for 12 PM.

KNIGHTS STORM BY EAST LIVERPOOL

TORONTO, OH- The Toronto Red Knights defeated East Liverpool 12-0 in 5 innings on Wednesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout.  Luke Gulczynski pitched a one-hitter before Zac Berger came in for the fifth frame.

Nate Karaffa led Toronto to victory by driving in four runs. He went 2-for-2 at the plate. Karaffa drove in runs on a sacrifice fly in the first, a single in the second, and a home run in the third.

Toronto had the lead from the jump when they fired up the offense in the first inning when Karaffa‘s sac fly scored one run for Toronto Red Knights Varsity.  Toronto scored six runs in the second inning. BergerTristan ThomasNick ChetockKaraffa, and Nick Sninchak all drove in runs in the frame.

One bright spot for East Liverpool was a single by Cory Weyand in the first inning, it was the only offense the Potters had to speak of on the afternoon.

Lucas Gulczynski earned the win for the Red Knights. He lasted four innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out three. Berger threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.  Paxton Grimes took the loss for East Liverpool. He lasted two and a third innings, allowing nine hits and nine runs while striking out one and walking zero.

Toronto had 14 hits in the game. ChetockGulczynskiSninchak, and Karaffa all managed multiple hits for the Red KnightsChetock led Toronto with three hits in three at-bats. They also tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Karaffa led the way with two.

Weyand went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead East Liverpool in hits.

POTTERS CAN’T HOLD UP AGAINST MADONNA

EAST LIVERPOOL, OH- East Liverpool couldn’t keep up with Madonna and fell 13-1 on Tuesday.  The Potters got on the board in the first inning when Devin Toothman singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Madonna responded and pulled away for good with five runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Brncic singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run and Amismeyer singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring two runs.  Madonna scored five runs in the seventh inning. The offensive onslaught by Madonna was led by AustinAmismeyer, and Dietrich, who all drove in runs.

Mazur earned the win for Madonna. He lasted six innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out five and walking zero.

Logan Bennett took the loss for East Liverpool. He went three innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and striking out one.

Paxton GrimesKamren Klakos, and Toothman each collected one hit to lead the Potters.

Madonna tallied 16 hits on the day. BeattyMcDanielsAustinBrncicRidgwayAmismeyer, and Dietrich all managed multiple-hit games for Madonna.

WIEGAND SHINES AS BEAVERS WALK-OFF POTTERS IN EXTRAS

EAST LIVERPOOL-  After an 0-8 start, the Beaver Local baseball team finally broke through the win column with a walk-off 2-1 victory in 9 innings over the arch-rival East Liverpool Wednesday evening at Beaver Local Community Fields.

With runners on 1st and 3rd with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th inning, Beavers shortstop Dorian Jackson at the plate, he hit a sharply hit ground ball to Potters third baseman Derek Klein. His throw was wide to the right field side of first base, allowing Hunter Saltsman to score the winning run from third base for Beaver Local.
The Beavers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third as starting pitcher Avery Wiegand reached on a throwing error allowing Carter Wolski to score.  The Potters tied the game in the top of the 4th off of a wild pitch from Wiegand, allowing Kamren Klakos to score from third.
Beaver Local starting pitcher Avery Wiegand pitched 8 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits with 4 walks & 14 strikeouts. Jordan Mick came on in relief to pitch a scoreless 9th inning with 2 strikeouts.
Freshman second baseman Ryan Cunningham led the Beaver Local offense with 2 singles.
The Beavers return to action Friday at 5PM at home against Lisbon, weather permitting.

POTTERS GAIN FIRST VICTORY AGAINST RIVAL BEAVERS

EAST LIVERPOOL- There is no sweeter victory than the first.  Except if your first victory is your cross-town rival.  That was the case for the East Liverpool Potters Monday.  Beaver Local fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 9-3 loss to East Liverpool. East Liverpool scored on a double by Logan Bennett in the first inning, a walk by Trevor Wern in the first inning, a single by Dylan Czech in the first inning, a single by Blaize Davis in the first inning, and a single by Devin Toothman in the second inning.

In the first inning, East Liverpool got their offense started when Bennett doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.  Bennett led the way on the hill. He allowed six hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out eight, securing the victory for the Potters.

Ethan Agnew took the loss for Beaver Local. He surrendered four runs on one hit over one-third of an inning.  Beaver Local tried to rally offensively early on when Ryan Cunningham homered in the second inning.  Also contributing to the Beaver offense was Avery Wiegand, who went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Beaver Local in hits.

East Liverpool collected nine hits. Davis and Paxton Grimes all collected multiple hits for East Liverpool.
