FAITH GETS GRACE THROUGH TO CLEVELAND STATE

HUBBARD OH- Hubbard multiple sport athlete Grace Narkum has made the decision to continue her softball career as a D1 athlete at Cleveland State. Narkum is also a senior leader on the basketball team that is having an impressive start to the season.

It has been a hard year for Grace. In September, Grace’s sister Jess who was a Hubbard graduate class of 2015 passed away from a battle with ovarian cancer . The loss was felt by the entire Hubbard family, and it was an opportunity for Grace, and her family to feel the support and love from the Eagle community. During the volleyball season, Hubbard held a fund raising game for the Narkum family, and it filled the gym in the color teal. Grace says that going through this showed her that she could come back from anything.

Grace couldn’t have gone through this journey without her faith. She is very open about her beliefs and how active she is in the church. She leans on her faith to help her be a fantastic senior leader.

Grace is a big presence in the basketball locker room. Her leadership is one of the reasons the Eagles are off to a good start. She brings positive energy to the team that makes it easy to navigate the ups and downs of a basketball game, and season. Eagles head coach Scott Slovesko can’t speak highly enough about what she means to the team.

Grace has signed on to continue her softball career at Cleveland State university. The decision came naturally to Grace after meeting the coaching staff and the culture Cleveland State has built. The signing has made it easy for Narkum to focus on her senior season. Making Hubbard softball the best team they can be. Get a chance to hear from Grace in this exclusive YSN interview.

SWAGGER LIKE TYSON

SALEM, OH- The Quakers are one of the top teams in the state and went halfway through the season without a blemish on their record.  As the Red and Black Attack look to bounce back to form, it’s been the gritty attitude and play from guys like Tyson Swiger that have opponents always looking for cover.

Salem’s Senior Linebacker seems to keep coming up in the clutch on big plays.  However, as you’ll see, he’s always first to give credit to his teammates.  A Quaker through and through, Swiger started as a ball boy in his younger years, and is now leading his teammates and the city to the victory bell on Friday nights!

YSN’s Jarrod Niederhiser catches up with Swiger for this week’s Salem Player Profile: SWAGGER LIKE TYSON
