Ashtabula, OH- In an impressive display on the diamond, the St. John Heralds secured a commanding 12-4 victory over the Windham Bombers on Sunday. The Heralds showcased their prowess both at the plate and on the mound, earning a decisive win on their home turf.

The Windham Bombers struck first in the opening inning, with Sydney Sweet’s single driving in an early run. However, the Heralds quickly responded, leveling the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the inning courtesy of a run scored on a wild pitch.

Building on their momentum, the Heralds surged ahead in the second inning, capitalizing on walks drawn by Chay Oliveras and Rylee Frasure to take a 3-1 lead.

Caitlyn Carney’s clutch double in the third inning further extended the Heralds’ lead to 5-2, providing a significant boost to their offensive effort.

The sixth inning proved to be a turning point for the Heralds, as they exploded for six runs despite recording just one hit. Errors by the Windham defense, combined with disciplined plate discipline and aggressive baserunning by the Heralds, allowed them to capitalize on scoring opportunities and pull away with a commanding lead. Gianna Torres drew a walk during this inning scoring one run followed by a hit from Alyssa Cevera scoring another and errors leading to the next 4 runs.

Pitcher Isabelle Holler anchored the Heralds’ defense, delivering a stellar performance on the mound. Holler surrendered just one earned run over six innings while striking out nine batters and showcasing excellent control.

Ashtabula, OH- It was a back and forth nail-biter on Saturday as the St. John Heralds secured a thrilling 10-9 victory over the Geneva Eagles in a dramatic walk-off finish. Down 9-8 in the bottom of the seventh inning, AJ Henslee’s clutch single drove in two runs, sealing the win for the Heralds.

Despite facing an early four-run deficit in the second inning, the Geneva Eagles fought back fiercely, closing the gap with a flurry of singles and a sacrifice fly.

An early error allowed the Geneva Eagles to take the lead in the top of the first inning, but the Heralds responded swiftly, scoring three runs in the bottom of the inning courtesy of hits from Ryan Williams, Kyle Hejduk, and Brady Cole.

The Heralds extended their lead in the second inning after an error by the Eagles, but Geneva rallied back to regain the lead in the fourth inning with timely hits from Hewitt Wilt and Andrew Oros.

In a back-and-forth affair, the Heralds retook the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, only for Geneva to tie the game again in the sixth inning with a key single from Curtis Maier.

With the score tied at eight in the seventh inning, Oros’s single briefly gave the Eagles the lead, but the Heralds rallied one final time, culminating in Henslee’s game-winning hit.

On the mound, Will Anderson started for the Heralds, while Shea Arkenburg took the mound for the Eagles. Both teams displayed resilience throughout the game, with standout performances from various players on both sides.

Will Anderson led the charge for the Heralds, delivering a stellar performance with three hits in four at-bats, including two crucial doubles and a timely single.

The Heralds wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, capitalizing on an error in the first inning to take an early lead.

However, the Warriors quickly turned the tide in the second inning, surging ahead to a 4-1 lead with a barrage of hits, including singles by Geno Measel and Zane Naylor, along with a double from Aidan Hernandez.

Undeterred, the Heralds responded emphatically in the bottom of the second, unleashing a potent offensive onslaught to score five runs on four hits, seizing a 6-4 lead. Anthony Severino’s double proved to be the highlight of the inning, driving in two crucial runs.

Contributions from Anthony Severino, Ezra Campbell, Nick Karr, Bryson Vennitti, and Brady Cole fueled the scoring spree, with each player playing a crucial role in driving in runs and extending the Heralds’ lead.

Leading the charge for the Heralds was Rylee Frasure, who showcased her hitting prowess with a stellar three-hit performance. Frasure’s consistency at the plate proved vital for the Heralds throughout the game, with impactful hits in crucial moments.

Despite a strong start from Chalker in the opening inning, highlighted by key hits from Nieves, Hromada, and Cox, the Heralds managed to claw their way back into contention, tying the game in the third inning thanks to a triple from Isabelle Holler and clutch hits from Frasure and Isabelle Stern.

However, Chalker regained the lead in the bottom of the third inning, powered by Hromada’s homer that drove in two runs, shifting the momentum in their favor.

The Heralds wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, with Isabelle Stern’s triple in the first inning driving in a crucial run. However, Lordstown swiftly responded, seizing a 3-1 lead in the second inning courtesy of Folesler’s timely single and an error.

Despite Lordstown extending their lead to 4-1 in the third inning with Livkwar’s single, the resilient Heralds staged a remarkable comeback in the fourth inning. Frasure’s single coupled with a defensive error allowed St. John to reclaim the lead.

The game remained tense as Berry’s triple for Lordstown tied the score at five in the fifth inning, but Debernardo’s double propelled them ahead 6-5 in the sixth. RAIDERS WRAP THINGS UP BLANKING HERALDS

MYRTLE BEACH, SC- South Range let the fireworks fly in their final contest at the beach on Friday in n a dominant display of offense and pitching excellence, the Raiders cruised to a commanding 10-0 victory over St. Johns on Friday at Grant Park, thanks in large part to the stellar performance of Tyson Tarajack.

Tarajack was the catalyst for the Raiders’ success, driving in an impressive four runs on two hits throughout the game. His standout moment came in the second inning when he blasted a towering home run to right field, bringing in three runs and setting the tone for the rest of the game. In the fourth inning, Tarajack continued his offensive onslaught with a clutch RBI single, further extending the Raiders’ lead.

On the mound, Logan Baxter delivered a masterful performance, striking out 11 batters while keeping the St. Johns offense at bay. Baxter’s dominance was evident as he surrendered just six hits and no runs over five innings, showcasing his command and control on the mound.

South Range wasted no time asserting their dominance, piling on runs early in the game. Dylan Smesko started the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the second inning, followed by RBI hits from Gaven Nagy and Tarajack. Edgewood, OH- In an electrifying showcase of talent and sportsmanship, the Ashtabula County Senior All-Star game brought together the finest seniors from across the region. Divided into two teams, Team Bowser (Orange) and Team Bowler (Black), the seniors treated fans to a game filled with excitement and high-level basketball.

This highly anticipated event, organized by the Ashtabula County Basketball Foundation, brought together the best of the best from the county’s high school basketball teams. Coached by two esteemed mentors, Edgewood’s John Bowler and Geneva’s Eric Bowser, the game was a testament to the talent and dedication of these young athletes.

During halftime, the crowd was treated to an exhilarating 3-point contest, won by Conneaut’s Chance Loomis, who showcased his sharpshooting skills by knocking down an incredible 27 3-pointers in just 2 minutes.

The player of the game honors were also awarded to Conneaut’s Chance Loomis, who delivered a standout performance with 31 points. Loomis’s scoring prowess and leadership on the court were instrumental in keeping Team Bowser competitive throughout the game.

From thunderous dunks by Aiden Hathy, Joey DeGeorge, Jerry Arrington, and Jacob Ernst to jaw-dropping long-range shots by Peyton Williams and Trevor Clute, the game featured a dazzling array of skills and highlights.

Overall, the All-Star game served as a fitting tribute to the hard work and talent of the Ashtabula County seniors. It was a memorable sendoff for these exceptional athletes as they embark on the next chapter of their basketball journeys.
